What sort of price point are you looking at?
The Sparco wheels are cost effectively made wheels by OZ, a VERY reputable manufacture. I'm a huge fan of Enkei wheels, and some of the OEM BBS options for Subaru's through the years, but the 5x100 models often command a serious premium. I tend to avoid the typical rep brands, I've seen silly failures and bent lips on nearly new wheels. A guy at my local autox had a set of XXR's arrive, had some slicks mounted, and THAT EVENT, (the first time the car had them on aside from brake clearance and strut body clearance testing,) all of the spokes cracked on a bump mid transition. Is that normal? Of course not, but that sort of failure shouldn't happen on a wheel that is properly quality controlled. (This was 2 years ago iirc, so it's not when they first launched, but it's also not last week.)

I second both Enkei RPF1's and 949 6UL's. These are about the most inexpensive for the quality. I'm currently equipped with 17x8 RPF1's and I really enjoy them.

And... What are your plans for them? Daily driver? Track? Hard parking show car? Mix of everything? What may be a great inexpensive wheel for one task may totally suck for another.

My answer to inexpensive was bought set of used forged wheels. 1/4 of price of new, below that of some cast sets price.

I bought these for a set of dedicated track wheels\tires. At the time I paid $169 but it looks like they are $199 now. Maybe something to keep on the lookout
https://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Whee...t+Grey+Painted EDIT: I went back and looked and these are not the exact wheels I bought... Mine are 17x8 and (I think)+36 offset. I can't find the wheels I bought for sale anymore. sorry for the confusion... |
