If it is functioning im going to see an auto electrician about rewiring as a brake light and deleting the window brake completely regardless of if its legal or not.... With the aero wing my rear view will be minimal as it is...... The 3rd brake light HAS TO GO..........

For those curious about the legality of having a rear fog, they are definitely 100% legal in the US. As long as the light shines red and is in the center or driver's side rear of the vehicle you will be fine. I've ran a rear fog light on 2 of my previous Subarus here in MD and VA and never got hassled.
There is also rear fog etiquette that a few people have mentioned in this thread as well. You should only be using this light in inclement weather to help drivers behind you gauge their distance from you. That's the only use for the light. It's not a 4th brake light. You already have 3 brake lights, you don't need 4. If you think you need a flashing "F1 style" 4th brake light on public streets because people behind you keep tailgating you and you are slamming on your brakes at every traffic light, you probably need to reevaluate your driving style instead. |

![]() Anyway...... Mate took a photo of an 86 at fast food restaurant... He says the fog light was on the whole time so obviously in Australia ours doesnt come on when only braking... We never get fog here in W.A so ill be looking into getting the 3rd(window) light disconnected and removed and having the fog light as my 3rd......

Disconnecting your third brake light is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. It's placed up high in the back window so that it's closer to eye level for drivers behind you. Moving that brake light down to your rear fog is going to make it harder for people to see because of how low it sits and will actually hurt you in the long run. |

U presume we are slamming our brakes on at lights and getting tailgated which is why we need F1 lights or whatever.....
In regards to myself deleting my window light i dont condone anyone doing this.... I am doing it because i have the aero wing and my rear view is too restricted.... Its not legal nor safe redirecting the window light to the fog light but i will be taking other measures to make people aware when im slowing down.... Maybe ill have a neon sign i stick out the window that says stop and wave it around whenever im slowing down.....

Oooh, I think I get it now.is it a whole new lightt on it or is it just like a brighter setting on the light itself? I know that they are some cars with fog lights on the top but I didn't know that there wree ones in the back.

all he did was wire it to the taillight constant wire. I soldered mine to the taillight constant and a second light/wire to the brake light so that it was brighter when the brakes were depressed.

I just had this mod done to my car, but I wired it as a brake light. Completley custom. I am going to get a relay that makes it flash 5 times and then solid. Looks awesome
