I'm going on this being a regular car, not a top end aspirational car. Pretty much any top line car is going to be of excellent quality.

VW group cars- In their push to become the #1 car co. in the world, the overall quality of their cars has gone down the shitter. Plus with the very real financial problems that the dirty diesel car companies are experiencing they are cutting corners with customer service and warranty work.

Fiat-Chrysler cars- FCG has cars with mass appeal, pretty interiors and great options... but they are infamously unreliable. Dodge makes cheap cars that go fast straight ahead and break down a LOT. Fiat is a joke- since landing on American shores, Fiats have been the tops in unreliability. Alfa is just another FCG product- pretty, fun to drive, lots of options and most of them don't work [very long anyway]. Jeep is one of the least reliable car makers in the US. Within the last 10 years Jeep has really gone down downhill. It really started int he mid-90's. Plus FCG cars are more expensive than they should be and have parts that are ridiculous $$

Hyundai- I have owned 3, but the cars tend to be cheap even today and have lots of options that work but not well. I had a Genesis Coupe and the nannies (TC, ABS, SC) were horrible. When they kicked on (like in the rain) it was like getting hit by a sledge hammer. Interior was cheap too. They are a low cost option and you get a lot of the money but I'd rather spend the same to get less but it all works- like with Toyota or Chevy.

I work on a lot of cars in roadside service and I see cars that are broken down mostly. I see the sorts of problems various cars tend to have. More people with Jeeps than any other car say they would never buy one again. Ford is #2. A lot of VW owners regret that decision too. I'd own a Ford, knowing what I'm getting in to, even if that company has some problems right now. You really have to know what to avoid with Ford.

Out of curiosity, out of those Jeeps,do any of those include Wranglers/Saharas that people say they would never buy again? I've found that Wranglers have probably the best resale value of any modern American car.I just drove my boss' Jeep yesterday, would never buy one because I don't like riding up high and the throttle is very unresponsive, but I'll admit,it's a good investment as far as cars go.

I would have said the same thing about Hyundai or Kai years ago, never in a million years, but they are really looking nice these days. They are definitely off my 'Not Worth Considering' list.

https://www.kbb.com/new-cars/best-re...e-top-10-cars/

Second best to the Chevy Silverado, at least, that's according to KBB. I'm not really sure why the list contains almost all trucks and suv's. My immediate guess is that trucks are expensive, compared to cars, and they are often used for work, or in general, get abused. They may require higher turnover rates, and if someone's work depends on their work truck like it may be for a carpenter, construction worker, etc then replacing it may be a high priority. With that said, American's love their trucks, and the Wrangler is another American icon that can not be matched or replaced.

The resale is good on those. But the reliability is shit. If you want a weekend toy they'd be good, but if you want to get to work, you'd better have a back up plan.

Yet to your point, probably more Chrystler 200's were sold than 86's, so the buyers of the 200 must be more informed or have better taste, and/or the 200 must be the better car in general, or to produce, over the 86, right?
That's part of it,but actually,my initial though behind this thread was much more simplistic than that. I was just sharing my bias against Buick and Masarati and was wondering what other people's biases were.

Rational or not, everyone has a particular prejudice against certain car models and even entire manufacturers.I mean, there's a reason why Ford became the most popular acronym in the history of cars. Maybe it was warranted, maybe it wasn't,but there definitely was a reason be it fact or prejudice.

Now back on topic,I don't think I'd ever purchase a Mini or any kind. I kinda like the Clubman models, but at the end of the day,I'd rather buy something else that I would enjoy driving more.

My friend thought the same and bought himself a new Sonata back in 2014. The recalls have been pretty much non-stop. I think the last recall was for the moonroof that can fly off the car during high speed driving.

I sold my car last summer.

And yes I probably would not buy another Subaru in the near future.

Horrendous panel gaps and questionable fit and finish but at least no creaks and rattles off the lot unlike some German cars.

Funny story: my Impreza frequently (but randomly) won't allow me to pull the key out (steering wheel is straightened and transmission in park).
And by "funny", I mean annoying and frustrating.
