Depends on the dimensions. I'm about 6'3" but I'm all torso (think penguin like, lol) and my head sticks up too far to fit in the miata with the top up.

It sounds like the platform is a match for your requirements.
You should go test drive one. It will be better than all our posts combined. |

Now, imagine the 86 will never have more power than the >300 hp available out of the Z, M3, or Genesis unless you are willing to build the motor internals (from what I can tell you'll have to write a check for >$10k to get it done, might be able to save a couple thousand bucks if you can do your own labor and piece together your own kit, but you won't spend less than $~7k on parts iirc). Sure it'll be 500+ lbs lighter, but it will never push you back in the seat like those cars can, especially if you'd mod those too. If you're satisfied with that then I think you'll be happy. Good luck. |

It seems as though the general consensus is that if you are happy with the lower power figures for the car then the brz is great. Otherwise you should look elsewhere.
As far as myself goes, i think the brz will do what I want it to just about perfectly. Which leaves me with just one other question. I've seen a number of turbos and superchargers that seem to be decent. If I modify the car I would want the low end torque to at least stay the same relative to where it is stock. I wouldn't want to lose low end power. If I was to get a brz is there a reasonable way to at least keep the low end performance it has stock? |

Don't expect to be able to pass another car, ever. Other than that, buy the car. Unless you are one of the small number of dolts who just suck at driving, you will love it despite its "faults". Learning to drive it well despite them is where the fun is.

It's a similar story with the comfort and amenities aspects of the car. It's a pretty bare bones tin can by some standards, nothing you do will change that. You can add sound deadening, swap out the coilovers, add in a fancy touchscreen heat unit, but at the end of the day it was built like an economy car and it shows. You'll get interior squeaks and road noise (I can't listen to many things below half volume on the highway due to wind and tire noise), the plastics will grow weary with use, but the thing will still slide around a corner if you keep it in good shape for many years to come. |

@Lgarretto I think you're selling your 'Stang for the wrong reasons just to be unique,
and buying the wrong car if you're just going to mod the car anyway. If you want to be unique, driving a Subaru is not going to get you any attention. Look into an Elise or a Cayman, if you want to be different. If you're doing mostly highway driving, you might be happier in an 3-series. Since it's a weekend car, you could get something older, anything from the E30, E36, E46, or E90 |

the only real issue people have when adding lots of power is the transmission, which can't take much more than 300? or something like that. And as was mentioned, anything over 300 or so requires a fully built engine which will cost tons.
