Passing occurs at 50-70 or 60-80. Most cars are geared to achieve passing power at these speeds and tend to bog down past 80; they lose a lot of umph up there. The peaky power band allows the frs to keep going along with the 1.213 4th gear ratio. Most eco boxes are hitting 4th gear overdrives by then.
So no, a 60-100 time is not a logical assessment.

Don't mind them, nod, smile, point to the nearest mustang dealership and enjoy your drive home.

What if we don't like mustangs, camaros, corvettes etc., love the 86 platform as a whole , but just want more power? What wrong with that? No one said it was necessary to have a SC to enjoy it but it would obviously make passing easier in certain situations. I normally have no issue passing at all but sometimes you find yourself in situations where cars with significantly more hp/torque give yoga a bit of trouble.

(Or you're a screw up at highway speeds like me and occasionally find yourself one gear too high to make passing easier)

You guys have been right from the beginning. Power is not everything and this car has more than enough for most city/highway driving, but more wouldn't hurt. Some people hate SC/turbos and don't even want to talk about it. Some people get SC/Turbos but miss the raw NA feel of this motor and take them off. And some people buy them, love them, and enjoy the extra power. I don't understand why it matters what camp your in, as long as you enjoy the car overall. I do, and I know many others do as well.

Idk why you would want to steer people away from the car just because they have minor gripes with it.

I can care less about times. I pass when needed. Pretty simple.

See that is why times/numbers get thrown around though. People make the statement you can't pass when needed since the car simply can't do it. When you put numbers out that show the car is perfectly capable of doing it they just say you are wrong and the numbers mean nothing. Then they turn around and use some other bizarre set of numbers that they twist around to attempt to show it can't be done. Even though your numbers meant nothing their numbers are expected to be taken as gospel. I wonder how many more number of times I can say numbers in this record number of numbered posts on the numbers?

EDIT:

Just to put an end to this asinine argument, here are the 60-80 mph times.

60-80 mph:

2013 FR-S manual: 4.4 s
2016 Civic EX CVT: 5.7 s
2017 Elantra auto: 5.9 s
2016 Mazda 3 auto: 5.9 s
2016 Corolla auto: 7.0 s

No matter what arbitrary endpoints you want to use, the FR-S is clearly faster (again provided you know how to properly downshift).

everybody says they don't care... but once you're on hwy 395 in california and the limit is 55 mph for 300 miles of dead straight road and theres a passing lane maybe every 20-30 miles... and the road is packed with semi trucks going 40-45mph... THEN passing becomes important lol

especially when the trucks speed up right before the passing lanes. I'll never understand that.... they know they're slow, but they don't want to be passed.

I'd just like to say to the neggers.... (note the e). Fuck away off and buy a mustang and take your "I wish I bought an R8 but I couldn't afford it", elsewhere.

Now I feel better.

When you have to make yourself think your car is quick by passing commuter cars on the highway....wtf
