The Euro/UK 0-62mph is 7.6sec.

Agreed, most of those commenting are country yokels who rarely get on highways and for some reason know how to tell others how to pass on the highway when they only do it themselves maybe once a month. I'm from NJ where you need to pass or die in a horrible death of left lane slow pokes doing 55 in a 65. Yes we pass on the right here in NJ because the rest of you people going that slow in the left lane are morons. So if you're a wuss afraid of going into 5th or 4th gear to pass at 55 mph please don't comment. My car has held up doing so and not abused. Grow up, stay out of the left lane where drivers who want to do at least the speed limit and not impede traffic because "i'll trash my engine and trans and void my warranty", boo hoo you dummies, it's a car designed to pass. now STAY OUT OF NJ and let the real drivers drive in the left lane. WHEW, now i need a drink.

Those are measured 60-100 mph times (i.e., passing power starting at highway speeds).

Ooops. Sorry, my bad. <insert goofy laugh>

Unsurprisingly (maybe) my motorbike will do 0-100mph in less time it takes the 86 to get there from 60, roughly 8 seconds 0-100. However I'm not sure I am brave enough to full utilize 1st gear off the line on the bike, it's... intimidating.

60-100 mph times

2013 FR-S manual: 9.8 s

2016 Cruz LT auto: 14.0 s
2017 Elantra auto: 13.9 s
2016 Mazda 3 auto: 14.3 s

It's not even close (assuming you're downshifting to the right gear in the FR-S).
Oh come on Dark. You must have learned by now that numbers only apply when they work against the twins. The minute you use numbers that prove in favour of it they are stated to be inaccurate or meaningless in some weird and twisted manner.

No amount of downshifting in the world will make one of these cars fast on the highway (without a ton of modifications.)

When you have to make yourself think your car is quick by passing commuter cars on the highway....wtf

I haven't read the previous posts.. all have passed me by... Isn't a 50-70mph measure a better marker for overtaking?

Although I think ludwig is very lacking when it comes to the amount of grey matter used to construct a thought, I think the point of the thread was to say that these cars can pass those commuters; people who aren't trying to fight back when you want/need to pass, which is indeed very easy to do in this car.

Why exactly do I need 60-100 to pass? Lol
Passing occurs at 50-70 or 60-80. Most cars are geared to achieve passing power at these speeds and tend to bog down past 80; they lose a lot of umph up there. The peaky power band allows the frs to keep going along with the 1.213 4th gear ratio. Most eco boxes are hitting 4th gear overdrives by then.
So no, a 60-100 time is not a logical assessment.
