Yeah I didn't even bother replying to that thread when I saw it the other day. Most 370Z owners see their car for what it is, and see the 86 for what it is. There's always fan boys, but who cares?

The best comment I've found for myself is someone saying driving a Z makes them feel like a successful businessman. Yay.
Other favourites include ideas about not being to afford the Z. Yea right I'm going to spend my last dollar on the most expensive car I can manage to get.

Good laughs.

BRZ and FR-S -- although interesting, they are not sports cars and are in a diiferent class altogether from a Z. Any car with a back seat is no longer a real sports car -- IMO. Sporty coupe is a more appropriate name for them.
Lol so Supra's, Skyline's, 240zx's, M3, etc are NOT sports cars?

And oh yeah names define a car. So Gumpert is not a sport brand because it sounds funny nor is BRZ which simply represents what it means.. Ohh okay, phew! Thank goodness these people exist and explain things so simple!

Yeah I've read that argument some other places as well. So the 911 is not a sports car? People will say anything to convince themselves the thing they bought is better than anything else. In reality everyone has different tastes and you can't really say one car is better than the other for every person. The 370Z will appeal to some people, the FRS/BRZ will appeal to some other people, and the world will continue to hurtle through space unaffected.

that's funny. I think the 350z was an OK continuation of the Z legacy, but I think they really fck'd things up with the 370z.. Bulky, heavy, poor line view, poor driver position... I dno, to each their own rite?

TL;DR

I would get a 370z Nismo.

If I had the money :-) But for 50K + CDN for a Nismo, I would be better off getting a 335i.

Yeah at least we recognize that our cars are not supposed to be the fastest thing on the street. We recognize (like Miata owners) that lightweight>power and that what we have is a pure fun car that is as nimble as can be. Plus don't they like overheat or something lol?

Not bashing them because I wouldn't mind getting a used 370z but c'mon maaan

Or a used Supra, or an NSX, or an RB25 240, or an M3, or a CS 5.0 Mustang,

To me the BRZ/FR-S is more of a true successor to the original Datsun 240Z:

Bam!

BTW the owner of the above Z has 5 other 240Zs all in that condition and a 300ZX but is talking about selling the 300ZX and buying a BRZ.
