Invidia N400 Exhaust Rattle
Hey everyone,
I installed my Invidia R400 just over a month ago and have been loving it so far. However, after just over a month of having it installed, I've noticed for the first time today that there is a noticeable metallic rattle coming from what sounds like the rear of the vehicle in certain conditions (under reasonably light to full heavy acceleration load, around 3200-3500 rpms and again around 4000 rpms; then on coast at similar rpms as well as 2200ish rpm). I got under it and tightened what I could without lifting the car (tightened the midpipe to catback connection, I'll be lifting the car up tomorrow after work), but to no avail. If I played with the exhaust in the rear then start driving the noise goes away for a few minutes before starting up again. An audio clip here, to be more specific (pay attention ~0:10 for the metallic noise): [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRa-8veLKN8"]BRZ Exhaust Rattle - YouTube[/ame] Any thoughts?

Did you check the whole exhaust to see if it's touching something or about too?

![]() Found the culprit. The weld on the hanger bracket between the rear section of the pipe and the primary hanger is weaksauce. Not sure if there's a point warrantying it if the welds are so weak from the factory. I'll head to the muffler shop next week to fix this with a nice fat weld, as well as the other side to prevent that one from breaking as well. For now, a temp solution to cure my annoyance: ![]()

Good find. That will do it! I would try muffler cement or get it over to a local
Shop. Quick weld and you'll be all set. Send the bill to Invidia. |

I had this as well and my diagnosis was something inside the pipe, I'll have to check my hanger brackets to see if they're broken
