If you buy the car and it's in your name and you own it, do what you want with it. I feel like the people who track their car, push their car to the limits constantly and complain when the dealer wont give them a free tranny or a free this free that are seriously full of shit.

As much as I hate dealerships, I dont understand how anyone in their right mind can say that tracking isnt abuse.

These cars are made to be driven on the streets, but ARE capable of being driven on the track.

I was thinking a flat-track boot would provide good wear and promote gentle shifting.

My Nissan Dealer never gave me crap about autocrossing my 350Z. They replaced the transmission when the 5th gear synchro started getting notch. (Probably nothing to do with autocrossing)

I was surprised that they replaced a rear hub when a wheel bearning went...autocrossing could have caused that problem to happen sooner than normal street driving.

It isn't "abuse"

a·buse
verb
verb: abuse; 3rd person present: abuses; past tense: abused; past participle: abused; gerund or present participle: abusing
əˈbyo͞oz/
1.
use (something) to bad effect or for a bad purpose; misuse.
"the judge abused his power by imposing the fines"
synonyms:
misuse, misapply, misemploy; More
exploit, take advantage of
"the judge abused his power"
make excessive and habitual use of (alcohol or drugs, especially illegal ones).
2.
treat (a person or an animal) with cruelty or violence, especially regularly or repeatedly.
"riders who abuse their horses should be prosecuted"
synonyms:
mistreat, maltreat, ill-treat, treat badly

It is harder on the car than street driving yes but not "abuse" as defined since they are indeed track capable.

Well maybe the "excessive and habitual use of" may apply but that is not "abuse" as Luddy seems to think we were saying.

Now if you start trying to use it as a pick up truck, tractor or mud rally car then THAT would be abuse.

I don't know where this came from and I fucking hate it.

Warranty only applies to manufacturer defects, where the car is driven shouldn't be part of the equation.

According to 50% of the people who own this car, driving their car to shambles and having issues with it is a manufacturer defect.

What issues? Mine's been pretty OK so far. Some stuff has failed, I've replaced it, life goes on.

I love all the commercials showing stock and warranted track weapons (Camaro with track package, 86 with TRD springs, bars, brake upgrades, Viper ACR, GT3RS, Cayman R, GTR, 350R, Ferrari Scuds, Speciales, etc etc. etc.

Take it in for a problem. "Looks like your car has been at the track" "We might have a problem".

It's like buying a jeep and not taking it offroad.

The issue is never what you do with it.

The issue is, and always will be, how you manage who is responsible for what, and your relationship with the dealer and the manufacturer.

Virtually every issue of legitimate warranty claim denial is related to either 1) blatant abuse/neglect that is the direct result of end user action, or 2) borderline cases where the dealer basically said no. In the case of the latter, most of the time you can get it fixed if you are cordial or business-like with the dealer.

Case in point: my girlfriend's Impreza had her AC stop working. I took it in for a warranty inspection/repair, turns out a rock punctured the condenser. I was nice about it, decided to eat the ~$800 or so labor + cost repair work. Left my info. An hour later, the dealer called me and said they will have it replaced under goodwill.

I did not have any relationship with that dealer but I was nice about it. Maybe the service advisor was being nice that day, but in any case it was not a claim they would normally approve.
