Maybe he did mean as an insult, but there's the possibility that he meant: with automatics when you floor in 6th, it automatically downshifts

At 70mph why you even going to 5th? Might as well stay in 6th. Either go 3rd gear or stay on the right lane, please.

I've had this issue before. Switching out the transmission fluid to Redline got rid of it completely. The previous owner said it had Motul in it. Guess it was just worn out.
