Is anyone's rear view mirror sort of loose?

Is this how it comes from the factory?
There is play at the base, so the mirror is not taut.

There were TSBs on early cars over this, on a variety of other Subarus as well during the period. It appears you have a 13 BRZ which has the crappy base as you noticed. They will wiggle themselves loose over time and adjusting them speeds up the process heavily. Subaru will fix this for free.

Thanks for the TSB.
If the car is ever in the dealer shop, I will have them do this.
Not sure I want to go to the dealer drop off hassle just for the mirror alone.

Just order the parts from the TSB and do it yourself. Can't be a huge cost involved.

Mine recently started rattling around. Thought it was my dashcam but it's still snug. While checking it I noticed the mirror was loose when I bumped it.

By loose I mean it doesn't appear to be the bracket connecting the mirror to the windshield, but loose on what I assume is a ball and socket type connector. I wonder if there's a way to tighten it. Snapped a photo of the back of the back of the mirror and looks like there's a small screw hole or something, but haven't investigated further yet:

Have you tried tightening the Torx (T-20) screw at the base of the mirror? It worked for me.

Same , took me months to realize where it was coming from until I held all the buttons still.
