You could fold the rear seat back down if you want to hear the exhaust more.

Well, now, tell me ....... exactly what is WRONG with your car's taillights ..... ??

Aren't they LOUD enough for you ..... ??

Oh, OK ...... go ahead and get smoked tail lights ...... get em really really dark ..... so as nobody behind you can see that you're stopping......

And while you're at it ...... get some really white/blue BRIGHT headlights ....... so as to blind oncoming traffic so as they crash in front of you.......

Ya want any more mod suggestions from ol humfrz .....?? I thought not ....

I'm with tcoat. I have the TRD and love the sound. Louder, but not too loud, with a nice deeper sound than stock. It really sounds great at high rpm. I also love the D tips.

As an older member like myself. Does the exhaust sound get annoying on long drives on a highway? Is it loud even at cruise speeds? When i was buying my car they had 2. 1 that was stock and one that had different rims and exhaust but the wife hated the loud exhaust sound (it was a deeper sounding exhaust but still a bit whiny at higher rpms). I wanted the stock one that I felt had a better chance of being driven more carefully. I personally am addicted to V8 muscle cars (unfortunately I can not afford a car just for weekends). Very deep sound with no lawnmower pitch at all. I have never found an exhaust for a 4 cylinder that meets the criteria. Its hard to shop for something like this since the only way to hear it is on a video usually from youtube. If the performance gains were greater I would put more work into finding one.

Well a boxer engine is a boxer engine and sounds like one but the TRD exhaust is about as close to a V8 sound I have heard in person yet. There is very little rasp even at high RPMs so none of that tinny sound that some have. With the stock header and cats in place I do not find it even remotely annoying or drony when cruising and even at high revs it maintains at least some dignity. After decades of V8 muscle cars I have had much louder and annoying exhausts and it is my opinion that the TRD is just about the right sound for the car.

I have the Magnaflow cat back on my 2017 86, it sounds nice and deep at mid range RPM's, and no drone on the HWY at 65-80 MPH. I was thinking about the TRD exhaust when I bought my car, but after comparing the price of the Magnaflow and the TRD it was an easy decision. Plus I found out, that the two exhausts have the same design and architecture except for the tips. The Magnaflow was $650 installed.

TRD catback drones. It bugs me enough to not like it. I would have to wear earplugs for long drives.

Well, Riftur, I have a nameless muffler and it sounds pretty good to me ...... however, on long trips, I'd just as soon have the stock muffler on.

Yep, it's a trade off.

If your looking for the sound of a 1956 Ford, OHV V-8 with dual glass packs .... I doubt you will ever hear that sound coming out of the back of a boxer engine.

Yep, that sound is one of my most cherished childhood memories.

Back-in-the-day, back on the farm, during the late afternoons, I would be cultivating with a tractor, in a field next to the road that had a one mile straight stretch.

The older neighbor boy had this 1956 Ford convertible, with dual glass packs. He would wind that sucker up to a 100 MPH + coming down that road ..... then let er wind down as he passed our farm.

Oh, how I've always wanted a car that sounded like that ......
