I drive in Boston traffic daily and I usually shift at around 2.5-3K unless I am trying to hit a gap or on an on-ramp where i may run it out to 5K.
Its very fun to run the car out to red-line and listen to it rip with the UEL headers I have installed, I love downshifting and passing at WOT |

The point was.... I'm not fucking English and am moderately offended for it to be suggested I am.

This thread just about defines the most frequent 86 conversation, whether it be owners or onlookers.
Really we aren't discussing torque dip, be honest it's rate of acceleration or from a widely held perspective, the lack of it. If it wasn't an issue there simply wouldn't be so many modified cars on the road. Header and tune (especially E85) is a transformational improvement of this car's acceleration capability. More so than reading dyno sheets would suggest. I made many improvements towards reducing lap times before addressing engine power and tested repeatedly during the process. Adding the header / E85 tune increased my terminal velocity from ~118mph to ~128mph at the track that I used to evaluate my car's evolution. After the tune I didn't have to honk my horn for other drivers to lift after giving me a point. This difference in acceleration is very pronounced on the street as well but as my sig states it still wasn't enough for my personal goals for my car.

So you think rev'ing your engine is the correct way to drive? Everywhere, all of the time?
Advice coming from a nation where 99% of people drive Autos and 1 in 4 think the Sun goes round the Earth... The UK has done a massive amount of driving safety research for many decades. To be allowed to drive a manual car in the UK (or at least to get a UK manual license) you need to do a test in a manual. How many of you US guys have done a driving test in a manual car? Seriously, you guys telling me how to drive a manual is like a fucking yoga instructor trying to explain the delegate design pattern to a software engineer!

Not sure what you guys are talking about but to chime in (I'm in Canada if it makes a difference), I did my driving test in a manual car. Basically the only difference between that and an auto test was that the instructor asked me to downshift all the way into first at every stop. Everything else was the same. He said that's what the province required for people doing the test in a manual car. Just FYI in case anyone's curious.
