A Lesson for Installing A Hyperflash Relay...

Welp, let me begin by saying hello, and welcome to my second (I think?) thread ever. I ordered some diamond switchbacks for my 2015 FRS from 86speed, which worked perfectly fine... along with a dreaded flasher module... lol...

Long story short, I put the LEDs in place of the turn signal bulbs and replaced the flasher module, which I suppose was faulty because nothing I did with the cautions/turn signals worked.

Went to put back the old one and as soon as I hit the caution lights to test if the old flasher worked, I knew I messed up. Suddenly my lighting wouldn't turn off, my headlights wouldn't work, and my car was telling me my high-beams were on (they weren't, the stalk was at the low beam position). Now, after some searching on the forum, I can only think that I've blown my BCM and that I need a new one... yay...

Lesson to be learned: disconnect the battery unlike I did

Sorry to hear. Next step, how do you replace a BCM?

I'm not entirely sure for our cars, but I think I'd much rather take it to a shop that knows what they're doing and that can diagnose whether or not that's really the problem

Probably the BCM. However, you may want to check all your fuses carefully. A member on here had a similar issue a while back, even took it to the dealership (who couldn't figure it out) and after a long saga it turned out to be the HAZ fuse which had a nail crack in it. Worth checking at least.

Definitely will check the fuses before I blow money on a new BCM, thanks for that!

Get a fuse tester. Pulling out each individual fuse and checking it is a painful experience, especially when you are straining to look under your dash.

I had the same problem when i replaced the flasher relay, it was the HAZ fuse. Much cheaper to fix and still works wonderfully.

So I got it fixed yesterday, was actually a cocktail of blown fuses according to the dude that fixed it for me. He also put Resistors on my switchbacks, so they work perfectly fine now with the LED flasher (makes no sense to me, as I thought the purpose of the LED flasher was to avoid needing to use resistors). Charged 170 buckaroos for resistors + fuse fix.

probably money well spent. It always takes me FOREVER to track down electrical issues but that's because I'm an amateur.

I feel you on that one man, although installing the Monogram headlights on my car did make me feel like I had some skill when it comes to tapping wires/crimping/soldering and whatnot. I do all the wiring jobs for my friends lmao
