Techs at dealers can be trusted similar to salesman. They feed a bunch of crap to customers. When I read an official word from Subaru or Toyota, then its different.

Now go back to my post. As I said, neither the companies or the car are perfect. There will be cars that will have issues. I am just saying, some people are complaining about some silly stuff, just because it is the first time they hear it.

Now go back to my post one more time. I said when REAL problems arise, warranty work will be done. So, when this "Issue" is REAL, and a recall happens, I will gladly take my car to the dealer and get it fixed. At this moment, I will not worry about it and enjoy my car which is working great.
Not a problem, I fully understand.

So, to begin, the issues are NOT normal and need to be fixed. The technicians fixed some valves, readjusted cam angles etc.. but I will get the full repair specs Monday. They are also tracking my car tomorrow and Sunday to get full engine read outs for future FR-S owners. So as of Monday any of you experiencing this problem will have a fix, and a quick one at that.

I have not had my car for a month now because of this but I can tell you that as long as I know that future owners will not experience these problems it was well worth it. Good luck to everyone who has had this issue and if you are still experiencing this please take your cars to the dealership over the next month and your problems should be addressed a lot sooner than mine!
They've decided to give him a brand new FR-S for now while they use the older one as their experimental car to test what was wrong with it.

edit: there is also an err code and its an officially known problem, I can't recall what the number/code was for that either.

Ok. His issue was the idling problem. I was referring more to the "chirp" but I get your point and thanks for the link. I probably am really lucky that I don't get idle issues, very low if any chirping and not much else in rattles.

So maybe it is me who is out of the norm. Well, again my recommendation to anyone here is to not loose sleep on any of this issues, and just take it in whenever it is recalled.

Ah maybe I'm getting these guys mixed up .. there were 3 people that brought their FR-S in.
One of them was for chirping.
If you keep flipping through these threads you'll find it >.<
There's just too many to keep track of, sorry - not much use.
All I know is that someone said they brought theirs in.

I know, at the end all problems have been mixed up in every thread, and its possible that guy had the chirping too. Time will tell what will happen with all of this.

I think Whiteout FRS also said that he had the chirping.
But this is all memory ~

I wish this was dealt with quicker but I'm sure they're trying to take care of this as quickly as possible seeing as this vehicle needs to work for toyobaru.

Subaru Corporate rep will be at my dealer tomorrow to investigate the bumper fitment issues that have been prevalent on these cars. I'll be asking him what he knows about the "chirping". I'm guessing he'll have no answer, since there has been no proof whatsoever that anyone at Subaru or Toyota have said anything regarding this matter, but here's hoping!

It's annoying, so I can't see how it'd be 'good'. :P

Prevalent bumper fitment issue? Never heard of that. Searched, didn't find anything. :notsure:

Yup basically we have to wait for toyota to determin what course of action to do with the chirp. We gotta wait for them to see whats causing it and what is faulty and we will hear from them. My car is ready to be picked up but they dant do anything yet

Gonna post this in all the idle chirp threads I can. Just got back from the dealership where a Subaru corporate rep was taking a look at my car due to front bumper fitment issues, and I asked him about the chirping noise.

He says they've been holding classes for techs on the new motors, and their demo cars are all doing it. As of right now, it's a known "issue" and it's been logged that people are complaining about it. This is what he had to say about it.

"The issue has been classified as a normal noise to the Direct Injection high-pressure release valves when operating under normal conditions. It's intermittent in that the DI/PI systems work in tandem, and it will only generate noise when operating under specific circumstances which are most likely at engine idle. Every single car (Scion, Toyota, and Subaru) will emit this noise at some point in it's life. There is no current plan to investigate a fix unless enough people whine about it."

More or less a direct quote. Yes, he said whine.

They logged a report on the issue saying that I found the noise detrimental. Cars are noisy and I'm not gonna get my panties in a bunch over it, but FOR YOU GUYS I told him that I "didn't mind either way, but I guess I would prefer if it didn't make the noise."
