I don't think "I almost didn't pay a parking ticket that I may have possibly gotten away with" would be that interesting of a story for my grandchildren lol. But thank you, though

I'm glad to see you paid the ticket and owned up to the fact that you had broken the parking regulation, whether or not you felt it was just. That, at least in my opinion, was the right thing to do. However, you then wrote the following...

Me: There was a parking ticket on my windshield and I'm not sure if it's mine. The license plate doesn't match.
Guy: Let me check... Do you drive a blue Subaru? (which he did ask, by the way)
Me: Yes.
Guy: Since the license plate doesn't match and there is no VIN provided, does the permit number match?
Me: I don't know, I don't remember it.
Guy: <shows me the picture taken of my car> Is this your car?
Me: I can't tell, I have modifications in the rear of the car and that's only a picture of the front and no license plate on the front to say it's mine. I've seen another blue one just like mine driving around. ....
....

See, now, that's just a bald-face lie. You've already posted here that yours is the only blue BRZ on campus. So, even though you've done the right thing, you're saying you wish you hadn't, you wish you had lied, and that you're upset that you weren't treated like a king because you paid a parking ticket that you were rightfully issued, even though it may not have been filled out properly?

Dude.... sigh... if only that's all it took to be treated like a king. How about doing a your job well (whether that be going to school and achieving good grades or meeting the requirements and expectations of your workplace), being grateful for your opportunities, posessions, friends, and loved ones/family, being honest, and being a productive citizen? That's the bare minimum... and I'm NOT saying you don't do that... you very well may. I'm just saying that's the bare minimum, and that doing those basic things shouldn't make anyone feel as if they should be treated like a king. You want to be treated like a king for paying a PARKING TICKET?!?!?

Sheeeesh... what would we have to do for you if you found a cure for cancer... deed you the universe?

Sorry... I still think you're probably an OK guy... after all, you DID do the right thing, and you've taken all the words of us blowhards very kindly. It's just that one thing tweaked my anti-millennial gene... I'm working on it.. I'll try and do better..

Yeah, I teach college. Sorry.

Best to you,

Barry

Well in Calgary I have gotten out of two tickets due to the fact the officer spelt my name wrong and the officer got my plate wrong. I have also witnessed incorrect vin get people off but laws are different here in the great white north especially more so in Berta shit we have lifted trucks that roll coal on to cops out here it's the Wild West

I actually did a lot of research on this when I got a $250 dollar parking ticket at UW (I was using a school newspaper permit to parking at the athletic facilities so I didn't have to pay for parking at the gym).
The answer to the original post is it depends on the school. I go to a large state funded school with an entire parking division so the odds they will come after you via collections is high. Smaller private schools are less likely to do so and since they screwed up your info you would have an argument against it. School parking tickets are not the same as city parking tickets, since its "private property" and they can't affect your registration on your car, but you always run the risk of being sent to collections.
The trick is though to keep your name off their records, once you pay and they have a name attached to a license plate all subsequent tickets not paid run the risk of classes being held, not graduating etc...

Me: Sure. I'll be right back.

Except what really would have happened at this point....

Me: Ugm...no my car isn't here I walked.
Guy: OK, I've got your student ID, bring the car back, and we'll review, otherwise you'll need to pay.

Do you go to that school or just stopping by?
Since he doesn't have your correct license plate and vin.

I'd say just ignore it or go find that officer car, draw a **** on the ticket and write suck it. Then, place the ticket on his windshield.

they got the license plate wrong and didn't bother putting in the vin info so just do nothing and throw it away.
