Yeah the loan would wind up giving me at least a $319/mo payment which i find absurd. As a guy with no current car payment, and with my last car payment being $141, i can't imagine going $300+ insurance.

If I were to guess though, the specific prep keeps the super serious away, and the people for whom this is a perfect prep are cheap. It's disappointing, but there it is.
I think this is exactly right.

The listed price is great based on the usual tools for car value, and my estimate of used values on the parts based on trolling the FS area here.

You're not looking to pay this much, that's fine. Your hinted price range would be salvage title, maybe super high mileage with a clean title. This car is neither, and the asking price is very fair as it stands.

Oh yeah, for what i want to pay, i'm expecting the mileage will have to be around 70-90k and it'd likely be a 2013. Salvage title is also a likelihood. There is a rebuilt title one on my local Craigslist for 10,999 i'm tempted to get-- only problem is it's white. I never said this price was unfair. It's a cool car, i'm just cheap, that's all. I don't often pay more than 4 digits for a car. And if i do, it needs to be in the low 5 digits.

Regarding the price, if you depreciate the mods at the same rate as the car (according to KBB if in "excellent" condition) you get a price that is right around 19k. So your price is at market, so far as my calculations go. However, people don't want to pay market price for cars.

But anyway, if it was an automatic with some options I'd seriously consider buying.

OP, GLWS. Nice looking car. I'm not in the market since I have a STX car anyway, but I pop in because I'm curious, so I've contributed to that viewed count.

I think CJD hit the nail square in his 2nd paragraph. And I think most Autocrosser's are frugal (i.e. cheap). Also some people would just rather do all the mods themselves even though it is more cost effective to buy a car mostly done. DP
