ahhhh the old college parking tickets. i used to get them almost daily at my university and never paid one. they threatened to hold my transcripts and not let me walk at graduation if they didn't all get paid. i didn't pay a dime and nothing bad ever came about it.

Either way - JUST PAY THE 48 BUCKS!!!!
You must be fun at parties...

He also said that he didn't have time to look at the sign saying "front in parking only" because he was late for class, and yet had plenty of time to BACK into an angled parking spot.

As I said before, you broke the rules and got caught.

PAY THE 48 BUCKS!

He is clearly trying to talk his way out of not being a stand-up guy.

And yes, I'm no fun at parties!

I am strongly in the minority with you. Break a rule. Get caught. Pay up. Either don't do it again or be prepared to face the consequences. (this does not mean I don't break rules. I am actually pretty bad for breaking rules. I am pretty much a habitual rule breaker. I do however just pay up if caught)
I think we would get along just fine at a party! We can stand back and make fun of the youngsters.

Completely different fund buckets. There's the 'car modification fund' and then there's everything else.

See, if you had gotten out of more tickets, you could have expanded your beer horizons.

Btw, with what these colleges are charging for tuition, students deserve to catch a break here and there. Your response is akin to the advice baby boomers give when they tell you to walk into the CEO's office and demand a job. Y'all did that for a generation and got drunk at lunch, so they don't let us that close anymore. No one gets treated like a stand-up guy anymore. They take your money and treat you like crap as a reward.

We didn't get the free ride you seem to think we did.
You complain about being treated like crap while trying to actively find ways to scam the system. It is a two way street.

"Mommy, what's a pension?"

I'm not actively scamming the system but if one falls in my lap, I'm not going to forget that my dad and I had the same starting salary 30 years apart and a house was $52k back then. Also you could earn college tuition over a summer back then. I'm still paying for my degrees and I'm almost 40. It may not have been a free ride, but it was cush enough.

It is a two way street, they're scamming us pretty hard these days so I don't mind repaying them.

Meh. I think you are applying the same situation across the board. Your dad may have got those things that does not mean everybody did. In fact he would have been the exception by a long shot. Same as not every younger guy is barely scrapping by in a world of education debt. I can't even imagine the concept of people buying new cars at under the age of 35 and this forum is full of them.
Not sure what collage you could go to by working a summer at $3 an hour or less.
