Really? Without the under $50K new cars that are sold the tracks would probably all be closed due to lack of business.

I bet 99.8% of the Porsches of any type never have, nor ever will see a track. Hell, I bet 25% of the top level ones have never left the garage/display area/warehouse where they are parked.

People buy GT3's etc for tracking, ferrari, etc.

Yes - there are plenty of <50K cars on a track but those are seldomly bought or marketed as track cars. Going to one or 2 track days is a lot different than buying a track car. People that buy track cars typically buy used since they normally get gutted and prepped.

And yes - most P car people seldom track.... what is your point? Most Porsches do get driven - certainly a substantially higher % than Italians.... comments like that are just ignorant.

My point is that many, many, many, people here bought the car new with the intention of tracking it and your statement of "Nobody buys a new car for under $100K for the purpose of tracking" is way off base. At best you are implying that you need a large income to track at worst you are saying the people tracking lesser cars are wasting their time. Most of the people tracking new cars at the $50K and under mark are just starting out in the hobby and are not looking for $100K or more cars even if they can afford them. It is the crowd doing the one or two track days that keep the hobby alive not the relatively small handful with dedicated track cars of any type or price.
I was very specific in my statement that a good number of the TOP LEVEL Porsches get parked and I would guess that my pulled out of the ass guess of 25% is probably conservative. Love how you call that statement ignorant but say that the "Italian" cars are even worse.

I only make it about 6 or 7 times a year the last few years. I have a 911, and no - it is not a track car It's been tracked only 3 times, I have a beater for track.

But have held a NASA and SCCA license

I recommend people set a budget of 10K for a first track car... a beat up, used, already prepped car. Taking a car to a track on occasion and buying it for the track are very different.

I am about 20K all in for my track rat. Porsche 944 specifically and a 4 cylinder non turbo. It is ugly, not very powerful and I've yet to set the fastest time any particular day but I love driving that car.

Gotcha, and did you ever track an 86 and have those 'warped rotors' measured?

Porsche is spelled the same in all of those languages.

Or mis-spelled in your case.

I would like to publicly apologize to the group for being the first person to have a typo on the internet. I know that threw some people off and caused comprehension challenges since some are more concerned with grammar than talking about cars.

Again you are wrong. One-on-one comparison in the factory with total stock cars:

This doesn't mean I am not down to earth. However, many people don't know or can't realize the level of testing and development of these cars ...
