The Goal vs Porche 718 S turbo Boxer
This is my goal. I have a 2014 Frs. Yep I'm a Toyota Fan. My buddy got a porche 718 s boxer Turbo. 2.5 L 350 HP 309 tq. And Boxer 4 cil. Road and Track talk shit that it sounds like a STI. "Yes Subaru WRX and STI owners be mad" it has s a 12.4 to 12.9. standing Quarter mile and track wise is great too. Got to find that stat.
Got to beat it.. just to prove a point. JSRC can do this with ACE Headers and... well good tires... full blown Turbo is not an option cause live in Cali. Watch the vid folks!! And see what the mean. http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars...rything-right/ |

I don't think that anything you do to your NA FR-S (short of an engine swap) is going to allow you to beat that machine. humfrz |
Agreed, the 718 Cayman is as fast on Nurburgring as a GT4 or 997 GT3......but the 718 is almost (or over) $100k nicely optioned, you could have 3-4 FRS/86s for that.
|
I know that some Gt86 with JSRC are doing 13.3 once in 3 runs on a 1/4 mile slippery track but on the street, better traction. i think it can be done

So, a supercharger would be OK for you in CA ... ?? I'm out of my element here...... what is a JSRC ..... ?? Is it like a JRSC .... ?? humfrz |
Well this is fun. The 3rd thread where a "friend" talked shit this week. Starting to get old.
A true Toyota fan would agree it would kick their ass and walk away. No doubt you can build a Subaru that could beat a 718 but by the time you sink the money into it to succeed you may as well have bought a 718. Ok bench racers time to strut your stuff. |

Just make sure to run a lightweight crank pulley and go at least 15k between oil changes.

This is not relevant with the topic. |

A custom "More Money Than Brains" license plate frame would be good, too.

This is "talk shit"? Sounds more like "Yes Subaru WRX and STI owners be dumb".
"The car fires to life with a sound I haven't heard before from a Porsche . . . But I have heard it from the Subaru WRX STI. In the same way the Shelby GT350 sounds like you asked Porsche's Motorsport division to build a Mustang, the Boxster sounds like if you asked Porsche to design you a WRX. It has the familiar Porsche clatter blended with the STI's thrrrrump and, for the first time in a Boxster, a bass note. Gone is the high-pitched wail, replaced with turbo whoosh and the rhythmic bass line of a boxer four. It's different, for sure, but the change in sound is the price of progress." |
So lets put 20K into a 20K car and still have it we worth 20K or buy a 718 and lose 20K on it in a year. Neither sounds like a great idea. Back to the Camaro 1LE again.......
