How are you going to attach the composite panels to the frame? Also, have you estimated how much weight your composite body panels will save alone? I'm very interested in knowing that.

Keep up the good work!!
Great shot, thanks for posting!! Thanks for the compliment too.

The green framework is actually underneath the outer skin which I intend to remove. I will not remove the green sections but may drill them as I have a multipoint weld in cage.

I'm not too sure about weight savings but there will be a benefit. I will glue the panels on with polyurethane adhesive.

Sorry, I've not been updating as often as I should..

I recently decided to make a one pice FRP dash, so I took the original dash and made a buck out of it using card, tape and filler..

Then painted and polished it..

And made a mould.. then popped this out..

This is a rough one off just to make a pattern to cut around to fit the roll cage. There are A pillar supports which go through the dash airvents at either end, so the mould is made with interchangeable end pieces so I can make as many patterns as necessary

So, the main body moulds have been made and the sheet metalwork has been removed. So its time to shorten the rear end..

Next I thought it was about time I started on the roll cage?

Basically, not much GT86 left!! Front strut towers will be next then we can move onto the front cage tubes..

Your work is high art. I am literally slack jawed with each update. Amazing.

I'll now head back to the garage to work on my little oil cooler brackets. Will spend the rest of my day trying not to feel inferior.

Thanks for the compliments man.. never feel inferior, especially if you are making parts rather than just doing bolt ons.. When you design those brackets, consider the weight of the oil in your cooler and all the vibration going on.

Oh, of course! Just some tongue in cheek.

I am tightly coupling directly to the cooler stack for isolation but did not consider the weight of the oil. Thanks for the heads-up. I'll watch that carefully.

I'm sure Nige will explain but this project is no more. He has moved on from the GT86 world.

He got a new RS and a new Mustang and lost interest.

I tried purchasing the widebody molds from him, but he - understandably - politely declined.

Same here. It is crazy to see so much work tossed to the side but unfortunately when you lose passion for something that's the way it goes. Hope he picks it back up one day after the new projects are done.
