There is a mileage requirement? So the system is weighted to benefit the dealer but presented as if to be best for the costumer?

Their website still says this though:

"For vehicles exceeding the above maximum mileage limits and not disallowed by the Vehicle Exclusions or the Vehicle Condition Criteria outlined in the Program Guidelines, the GTP Value offered to the customer must be reduced by $0.20 for each mile over the maximum mileage allowance. This is the only allowed reduction of the GTP Value."

Come to about a $1,500 hit for me. But I still don't know what Subaru values my car at though.

I just called to ask since I've got my 30k mile service coming up.

$330 plus tax for an oil change, tire rotation and "brake fluid flush and top engine clean."

Yes there is a mileage requirement, no it is not weighted to benefit the dealer. Just like leasing has mileage caps, the GTP program is a "bet" on the depreciated value of a car, and that is much much harder to be accurate on as mileage goes way up on younger cars, so Subaru caps mileage for GTP so they can accurately quote a trade in value that is good for both parties.

Give your retailer a shout and they'll quote you.

Well since my mileage had almost 30k more allowed I guess that means I get 30k x .20 added to my vehicle value.

I actually got really pist at subaru because in one month their trade-in value dropped by 4k. Total bs.

Just out of curiosity, what does fair market price have to do with Subaru? If you want the most money for your car, sell privately. More work, but always your best option, especially if you think black book values are wrong.

That's hard to do if you still owe money though.

Not necessarily true, but also, one can't hold a manufacturer responsible for quoting fair market value from black book.

Let us know what a "top engine clean" is. I probably really need one of those whatever TF it is.

LOL You made me look it up!
Sounds like they pour some shit in your gas or something. Even though the manual clearly says "don't pour shit or something in your gas".

"Using a top engine cleaner can help:
Reduce stalling, hesitation, and pinging.
Make your engine idle smoother.
Improve your exhaust emissions and gas mileage.
Clean carbon deposits from inside the engine (decarbonize).
Clean the intake valves and pistons.
Clean the throttle body (a little)."

That's not too terrible. Full fluid and filter changes all the way around and full visual inspection too. Sure you can do it in under 2 hours (3 including getting the parts and supplies) yourself if you have the knowledge, the place to do it and the tools but at $300 I'd question if it's worth it.
