Subaru Guaranteed Trade-in Program

Anyone have experience with this?

I was curious about my BRZ and the website said my car does not qualify.

My car was bought within the US, has had no wrecks, had no special circumstances whatsoever. It's not modded except for a K&N. It wasn't leased. And it's not a fleet vehicle.

The only thing I see that might disqualify my car is this part of their fine print: "Vehicles owned by a customer who did not purchase a new Subaru vehicle under this program are not eligible."

So I guess when buying the car, you had to have set it up with the guaranteed trade-in program?

I guess this is meaningless since I don't plan on trading the car, but that seems like shady practices. Subaru seems to advertise this a lot and for them to say I don't qualify for seemingly no reason at all is kind of junky, IMO.

It's a bastard child.
Also, they don't sell well to begin with. Not enough profit for them to take the risk.

When I traded in my Forester for my BRZ, I used the G.T.I.P. The dealer was offering me $700 less then the G.T.I.P. I showed them the certificate and they game me the higher value from the cert.

Yeah, when I bought mine, they said they'd "throw in" 2-years free service. It was honestly one of the reasons I bought the car over the NC I had been looking at.

I'm at 30k miles now in my first year and they say they won't pay for anymore services. The salesman didn't mention that there was a mileage cap to those "free services for two years." A regular oil change and service is $320 at my dealership, which is insane. I used to pay $60-$90 when I had a Mazda, which was high but it kept me in the dealer's good graces if I ever needed warranty work. $320, to me, is highly suspect.

I still get them in the mail from the similar program by Mitsubishi for my 2008 Lancer GTS. Apparently they are in "huge" demand and they will guarantee my trade in value for another year. It is just another way to get you in the door.

Can't wait until 2019 when I get one saying they extended the offer beyond the 10 years! That car is either some kids ultra high mileage rice mobile or soup cans by now.

Problem solved. Too many miles for how old the car is.
