At the end of the say, the FR-S is still a Scion.
At the end of the say, the 86 is still a Toyota.
At the end of the say, your BRZ is still a Subaru.

And at the end of the day, there is a Civic that can run a 7:43 around the Ring and is far faster than a twin.

So, what's your point?

The new Civic is a great car, and while the Si isn't a sports car it will likely be faster than the 86. Not to mention cheaper, more economical, more practical, with a better interior. Just because it's a Civic doesn't mean it's a bad car.
I never said the civic is a bad car, i recommend the civic to anyone who wants a reliable car, that is fuel efficient with a decent interior. It's just the styling doesn't appeal to me and FWD sucks.

The new civic si is quick. Last autocross at Daytona there was a guy in one running a 45 second lap (same as my BRZ). Granted, he was on RS3s as wide as he could stuff in the wheel wells while I'm on stock sized street tires.

Wasn't planning on going off-topic again, but you wanted to bring up the whole "at the end of the day it's still a Civic" thing so I showed you a Civic that can smash higher-end cars on the Ring.

Yep, our cars cannot break the 8:30 barrier stock.

I wouldn't rag on the Si when it has the same or possibly more potential than our cars.

It's not reasonable to expect our car to be anywhere near those times.

We're 100hp and a whole lot of tire off the performance benchmarks for anything on that list.

I'm surprised we haven't had a supercharged car compete, we have some insane builds for these cars.

I bet a set of Michelin PSS in 225 width would put us within fighting distance

It wouldn't matter, these times are manufacturer based - to simulate what a stock car is capable of.

I doubt it.

I have 100hp more than stock with Michelin PSS in 245 width. It certainly makes the car faster, but then there are many other issues. Heat in the brakes, heat in the engine, heat in the transmission, aero instability. There are many weak points in this car once you hit the track... and no track is more punishing than the Green Hell.

I guess I should have stipulated that the car needed even more than just tires/power in my original post - because it's true.

I've owned 15 Hondas, 8 Civics, used to be one of the biggest Honda brand advocates, ran several websites devoted to them - and I just can't get behind anything they're doing anymore. They've completely lost their soul.

I've become the bitter "ex" that shits on everything they do.
You have company here ('85 and '89 CRX's - go karts, '92 Integra GSR - go kart with VTEC, '08 Accord Coupe - chubby sexy).

I don't care what it's numbers are - the new Civic is not only aimlessly, painfully overstyled, it just plain looks large and dare I say heavy. I expected the hatchback version would vault this thing into relevance . . . until it emerged with 5 doors and a profile rendering a Crosstour sexy. All of this with the unjoys of fwd . . .

Honda - aka Stepford Wives.

ooh, a DB2! I had 2 different DA's, both 91's in NHBP, owned years apart. My first DA was actually my first Honda. Did an LS-VTEC on one of them. Always wanted a DB2, but by the time I would have bought one, they were all pretty much ruined.
