Was browsing youtube and came across this video.

If you go to 8:30 he takes a stone and drags it across the dip and it seems to hold out fairly well. Better than our OEM paint would.

Noob question.
Appearance wise is there any difference between having a car sprayed with regular auto paint and plastidip?

Plastidip is usually a matte or flat finish (although you can spray glossifier over it to increase the shine).

They came out with a very high gloss top coat a while back. I have no experience with it to say if their claims are accurate though.

I recently did a Plastidip on my stock rims and they came out looking pretty good.

I dipped in my driveway with a homemade booth. Like painting a car, prep work must be on point. Post care is important too. Plasti-dip by itself has a rubbery feel and can scuff easy. Either buy the Dip Coat to protect your dip and help it last or what I did was use Turtle Wax Ice Spray Wax (cheaper alternative). A year and no problems.
