A car is worth whatever people are willing to pay for it. Early 911's for 6 figures? A '73 RS for mid 6 figures? So the RS or a brand new Ford GT for the same price?

A big nasty V8 would have been better IMO however I'm sure weight was the issue

Having worked on the design and development of a high end supercar, I can see the $500k value in it.
...and regarding the paddles moving, why is he moving his hands around on the wheel on the track? Personally, I wouldn't base what supercar I'd buy based on the sound, lol |

I'm not sure if this Ford is quite in the same ballpark as the other marques. Yes, I know it is competing in the same market but this car was designed race car first then road car.

Having recently driven an Aston Martin, Ferrari F430 and a Lambo Gallardo, I can say none of those cars are worth their value TO ME. They were great cars, but none of them felt like they were worth the $200k price tag, definitely not eight times the value of a BRZ. The Ferrari sounded amazing, but not the other two; the Lambo didn't have much sound at all and the convertible Aston v12 was ok, but nothing amazing. I'm sure aftermarket exhausts could change that, but not stock.
You pay for the name and the high tech in a low production vehicle. Look at what you can get in a higher production vehicle like a Corvette or a GTR in terms of value. I think this car is worth $500k because people will pay for it, and it looks better than a lot of GT cars sub $500k and in line with a lot of the million dollar cars in how exotic and extravagant it is as a race production car. It is funny too about the complaints about the engine. Size isn't everything or Porsche wouldn't exist. And interestingly, just a few years back a Porsche GT4 was an amazing performance car that rivaled the 911 variants in performance, even the GT3. Now the Cayman S with a 4 cylinder engine could take a GT4. I don't think anyone will be whining about how their Cayman has a smaller engine with two less cylinders when they pass a GT4 on a track day. Likewise, no one will be whining about the v6 in their Ford GT. |

Quite some time ago I belted (well, attempted to belt) a 360 Modena around a race track. I saw 140 mph(!) down the straight. Yeah, it was fast but I had more fun flogging a 90hp turbo Diesel Puegout around the twisty roads in Western Europe. 2/ "What the market is will to pay" goes for any product. 3/ The little I've watched/read about the car suggests that the engine doesn't sound that good.*shrug* I'm just happy that Ford decided to build such a machine.

I think the 7k rev limiter on a 6 cylinder is the main reason the sound is not quite as crazy as other cars. The next lowest pitched "supercar" if you can call it that is one of the 2GR Lotuses at 7200rpm.
I like how they went crazy on the aero, lightweight-ness and the track-readiness, but a car at 500k I feel should have maybe slightly more "luxury feel" in the interior. Put some thin aluminum over the buttons, maybe add a little stitching or texture or color here and there. I guess it is kind of like the McLaren F1 which also is pretty spartan, but in this day and age when leather everything is standard, it is a little weird. |

I think the Ford GT is worth every single penny of $400000.
I wish I had the income to get one as it would be #1 on my list over any other car out there. |

$500,000 for a V6 powered Ford with a pedal box that's adjusted by pulling a strap lol.
It's cool, but half the price I'd rather have a 488GTB, which is faster, better equipped, more luxurious, and (honestly more prestigious). I'd rather spend $250k on a Ferrari than $500k on a Ford.

^What's so funny about a pedal box being adjusted with a strap? That's probably the simplest and lightest way to go about something like that, which is the superior method IMO.
All that aside, outside of this car's AMAZING exterior design I don't see anything special about it, certainly not for $450,000. A V6 engine for that price? Elle oh elle, no thanks. Sound actually is important to a lot of people because once you get to a certain level of performance (say, 0-60 in less than 3 seconds and a 1/4 mile under 11 seconds) there's not much difference when being driven on the street. But an exotic engine sound is something you can appreciate every time you drive a supercar. I'm also a bit disappointed in the curb weight. I was fully expecting this car to come in under 3000 lb fully loaded. This car has style and exclusivity, but for considerably less money you can get a Ferrari, Lamborghini or McLaren with more cylinders, more power and (in the case of the McLaren) less weight. Personally I'd rather have a 2nd Gen GT

^This is why it's funny. All this effort to shave weight and leave out certain amenities and features, utilize a smaller engine, carbon tub construction blah blah blah.....and it still weighs more than competing vehicles with larger engines, offer more luxury, and that cost a fraction of the price.

Yeah. Little old boutique manufacturer McLaren will sell you a 720S for $150,000 less that undercuts the GT in weight AND has almost 80 more horsepower. Since when is McLaren the cheap option?
