Nobody really says it works anyplace.
I don't know but I would side with the "You need enough power for fuel pumps and ECU for it to work" crowd. Unlike the old school cars these need some power to allow the ECU to send it's signal.

If you turn on the ignition and the fuel pump primes the rail, you have enough juice to bump start it. Keep the cabin fan and the lights all turned off.

Go with second gear. So much damn compression on these things.

Well, ya, that was OK back in our day, when the trunks were much larger ...... as long as you remembered let them out for a pee break when you stopped for gas........

Can confirm, Bump starting with the push button start works; I went to get gas once and left the light on "ON" instead of "AUTO" and that caused the battery to drain down to the point where it wouldn't crank, so I turn the ignition to 'ON' had a friend push me a little bit then popped the clutch and bam she started right up.

Your battery died with the lights on long enough to just get gas? I left mine on for 4 hours at work a while back and it started without even a pause.

You must have still had loads of power for the ECU and fuel pump.
