I really dislike when people start a thread and walk. If you're going to start a thread you should mind that thread! |

Exactly. And a correctly modded track car would be useless to me no matter how much was put into it.

Your own car is modded. It was done by a professional tuner (TRD) that had a clear understanding of what to do. Same can be said for the ones tuned by STI or some parts created by engine manufacturers/tuners that don't change too much the engine performance and the overall balance. It can be subjective again, but it'll be in the area "I don't like the work of TRD" or "I don't like the work of STI" or "I don't like the work of TODA" and not in the area "I don't like your own selections or your personal preference". Modding a car is fine - and fun! Modding a car to beat another car that is a temporary benchmark is absolutely fruitless. That needle will change. There is no perfect car. A 911 is as close as it gets but yet many 911 owners still want a tertiary car.
If you really want a Porsche then get one in your budget. Porsches are near indestructible and easy to work on. Get an old 924, 944, early Cayman - whatever fits your budget but even a great and well taken care of 996/911 can be had for 20K. Each car has quirks - mod to address what you can't live with and love it for what it is. The most fun car I've owned was a 98 M Roadster - didn't even have traction control. Was a parts bin car and the suspension when it came out was already primitive and out dated. Far from the fastest at the time and as good as handling as the best available? (Miata for one) not a chance. Was it fun - absolutely! Lap times and stats only matter if there is money on the line. |

If you are buying Porsche Boxsters and FR-Ss for drag racing then you are already doing something wrong.

ask a lady which one she would rather step foot in. The answer will be your winner.

Yeah, the winner is whoever dodges the bullet of a partner who cares too much about what other people think.

I mean, nothing against the dude that built the car, but he didnt have a clear 'path' that I could see.
Its a mish-mash of parts. 20k can get you a full built motor with a ballin ass FI setup. the other 10k would go into Brakes, wheels, tires, etc. Of course its gonna sell for shit, sinking cash into cars is not an investment, its a money pit. The market will be niche as in only other tuners would give a shit. |

The OP is on a fool's errand. It would take an obscene amount of money to recreate the well rounded performance offered by a stock PDK 718 S.

I understand. However, speed costs money whether it comes from Japan or Germany and the Germans charge a premium for it.

And that has what to do with your comment about blowing motors?
