Not Hot Wheels but still have most of my childhood collection of Matchbox cars.
You can tell from the vehicles that most predate the existence of Hot Wheels. The original 1966 Batmoblie and the Monkees car are sort of a dead giveaway as to the years.

I have that very same Matchbox case. I sure wish I had all the "old" cars I traded for newer ones back in my teenage years. Many of them were from the late 60's. 😭

Of course, all the new ones are still mid-70's redlines at the newest.

Geez... Every time I see somebody put up most anything about hotwheels that were from the 70's and 80s and how one is worth a lot I'm like, "yup...I had that one too."
I had piles of them because I was a brat that was spoiled and got them every time we went shopping anywhere. They are all gone now though. This is what causes people to become packrats.

I managed to keep all my childhood HW cars, and then started buying them again in the late 90's. I've never counted them, but I estimate I have 600 or so of them, all still in the blister packs. I need to catalog them some day.

But what makes me cry is that my parents sold all of my original 12" G.I. Joe stuff at a garage sale when I went off to college. Just the old wooden footlockers that you kept everything in go for $250 these days, and I had 2 of those, plus a helicopter, command center, trucks, etc. Probably enough crap to put my kid through a semester of college now.

I have a few hot wheels but probably nothing of value. I did save my pokemon and magic cards when everyone was unloading them and they're both worth quite a bit now. Same with the wooden brio train stuff and Tonka trucks.
