With the seat adjusted all the way down and the wheel all the way up and out, I can't see past 5,000rpm on the tacho.

Speedo is still on the left and as stated ^above^ shows both MPH and KPH. Not sure if the digital display can be changed to KPH.

UPDATE: I verified that the digital speedo can be switched to KPH. It switches when you push the top of the three display buttons that also changes the odometer.

i notice the only place the plain cluster occurs outside of Australia that I'm aware of is the base RC model in Japan.

I think these things will be transitory. I reckon come Series 2 they will introduce a proper b&w LCD "driver information centre" like any sub $20k hatchback from Hyundai or even GM/Ford.

My other car is over 10yrs old and it has more info on the dash that the 86!

I know this is a spartan car but my other one has wheel buttons and a full LCD centre.

I picked up my GT yesterday.

No doubt the speedo is a poor design, but so far is isn't causing me a problem, you get used to it.

But I do also have touch screen sat Nav upgrade which gives speed alerts.

Alot of ****ing around for something think isn't really that big of a deal
Im sure something can be done to make. It can be cheaper for the cluster. . . if we wait for a gts wreck Best way to see if anything can be done is talking to your dealer? should be possible to get the cluster replaced as a fault under warranty or something and work something out? I haven't order or test driven a gt model so i have no idea how bad it is yet but time soo do the job for most people.

Ignore mainly what i said. . . Missed the last page
best to order one from japan or wreck

They won't replace it under warranty unless there is an actual fault. And if there is an actual fault with the cluster, they won't replace it with a GTS cluster.

Don't know about in Australia but they might if you pay the differential. I've done that once in the past in the US with a warranty replacement (although it was a radio not an instrument panel).

None of the manufactures I have worked for do, it is policy to replace part for the same item.
But you never know, they may allow it. But again, there would have to be an actual, genuine fault with the unit in your car.

I've driven my GT for a couple of days now. Without cruise control it would be an issue. I think you could easily speed without intending too.

When CC is off it means I'm giving it some stick and km/h doesn't really matter

where is the obd port on the 86?

you may as well get a bluetooth dongle and use the Torque app on Android and a cheap China tablet and mount it on the centre console for full engine, environment, speed monitoring.

Obviously don't know about the right hand drive ones, but on left hand drive cars its unfortunately right above the accelerator pedal.

This is actually really cool. I'll try to confirm the details for the Aus car, although it might be easier for someone who already has theirs

This + HUD could be awesomeness
