The TSB says to replace the ecu, they will just replace it , most likely without looking any further. You will then need to get the tuner to renew you ecu licience and tune.

However tunes are easy to detect, and unfortunately flashing back to stock with ecutek still leaves the licience in ECU, which alters the CVN (checksum value number) so can still be detected, but they may not look that hard if your lucky.

My luck is so bad, but I'll still be hopeful as you said.

They've scanned and found cam issues and now fuel pump. Since they've scanned it, does that mean that they would've already detected my tune on the ecu or is it a different type of scan they need to look for to detect my tune?

No the scan for codes and diagnostics works exactly the same on a tuned car as stock.

They have to say try refreshing ECU, then they won't be able to due ecutek lock, or pull on cruise stalk and see map switching or read out the cvn number and compare it to the stock cvn not things they routinely do unless they are looking for tuned, but it's certainly possible to detect a loaded tune file

Kind of sounds like you made your own luck there. What were you expecting, warranty-coverage wise, when you had it flashed?

I could be wrong, but I think that anytime you take your car into the dealership, they enter the visit in their database. If one dealership denies warranty coverage based on your alteration of the car's ECU programming, they'll probably make a note of it and any other dealership would see that information when pulling up your car's records.

I hope things work out for you, but I'm kind of in the "you broke the warranty rules, so don't complain" crowd. Reflashing back to stock and lying to the dealership is a less than honorable path, Grasshopper.

So this past Wednesday April 5th I started up my car to leave work and as I was leaving the parking garage my traction control and CEL came on. Drove straight to dealership and was told it was something of a camshaft sensor.

Something like that(not exact words). Then they cleared the code and drove it for a few miles, now a new code popped up.

This time my Fuel Pump Assembly.

They'll let me know on Monday what step they'll take next...

I fear that this is the start to a series of headaches. I know this is still covered under warranty and what not, but has anyone else gone through this?

What should I do next? Service adviser also said that with my car being lowered and having aftermarket wheels, if a Toyota rep came I'll most likely be voided for any major repairs...

Only mods I have are
Bilstein shocks and Eibach Lowering Springs
MXP Comp RS Catback Exhaust
Ambit Wheels/Super Sport Tires
Delicious Tuning flash and go stage 1
K/N Drop in Air Filter

Are they able to discover that I tuned the car? Thats really the only engine mod I have going on with it.
Just found this thread. Think it might help both of us a bit.

Well I got the car back and it seems to run fine.

All they did was clear the codes again and if it comes up just to go back to the dealership and they'll do whatever it is they did again.

In the end nothing happened, I hope this is the end of it but that likely wont be the case..

Well mine progressed slowly. I got some new codes this morning. u0100 and u0122. Which mean lost communication with the ECU and ECM. It did not trip the CEL though. My Torque app sees the code but my OFT does not see it. Weird huh? Edit: I know what caused the issue. My OBDII adapter caused it when working with torque. It actually happened to me once about 1 year ago. At least I think its the OBDII adapter.

Oh, well even if it was another thing thanks for at least trying to provide information!

I appreciate that.

You and I are on the same boat lol.

This always worries about ECU flash tunes. In a modern car, everything is controlled by software in the ECU. As a software developer I am thankful I do not work in the auto-motive department as the software quality controls and testing requirements are huge. Almost every line of code has to be documented, justified and defined for testing and potentially legal cases later on if they are suspected of causing death or serious injury... yes, it's that serious.

Then you hand over your car with multiple-million dollar developed and tested software to a bad street greasy tuning shop who flash it like it's an Android phone!

Scary stuff.

The downside is, if you fit aftermarket parts you might not get the full benefit from them without a flash. I believe you can have some parameters tuned more safely, but a full ECU flash sounds ... well... just dumb IMHO.

If I was Toyota/Sion I would tell you to walk.
