So, yes, I too am hoping for a turbo version, and if it can be tweaked to put down around 240 to the tire with minimal effort, it will be as fast but far better handling than the 370Z. I'll happily take a Subaru version if that's the one with the blower or turbo

My prediction: 2.0L motor with 230hp and direct injection and high red line. 2.0L turbo with direct injection and 300HP.

This should be common knowledge by now. The fact that the car is getting a Subaru boxer 4 has been common knowledge for ages. Hell, the whole car was engineered by Subaru. It's a chopped imprezza platform with a Subaru engine and converted to RWD. That's probably the reason for the aisin tranny that it looks to be getting. This whole "ae86 spiritual successor" thing is a stunt to get Toyota enthusiasts jazzed for the release. It's not really the successor to anything because Toyota didn't even provide the drivetrain or chassis. |

Me too. And I swear if that happens, I'll eventually buy both. I don't think they'll push for that much power either way. methinks ~210-220 NA, ~265-295 boosted.

Just because it raids the Subaru parts bin, doesn't mean everything is engineered by Subaru. Get that shitty idea out of your head. I'd like to believe that toyota's engineers have quite a bit of input, and It's been said that the chassis has had so many changes that it could be considered a new platform (legacy btw, not impreza). Furthermore, the Aisin (toyota) tranny, diff, and brakes seem to be coming from the Toyota parts bin. Let's not forget Toyota commissioned this car, with it's own set of objectives; Subaru wasn't building a rwd car before this. |

Wow. Doesn't the RX-8 have uncomfortable rear seats? If that's so, then I can't even imagine using the rear seats on the FT...
