Daily drive GT86 with 2jz engine
Hi evertbody,
I own a black Toyota GT86 and I'm super thrilled to tell you guys that my 2JZ swap project will be start in two weeks. My two main goals are keeping the car as OEM as I can, and reach to ~400WHP. I already ordered: 2jz GTE non VVTI engine r154 gearbox Mishimoto radiator Greeedy intercooler HKS BOV (SSQV4) Haltech elite 2500 Tomei Expreme Ti titanium catback exhaust Cusco diff Driveshaftshop Axles Cusco ZERO 3S coilovers Cusco antirolls Yellow Brembo brakes with DBA T3 4000 Spec stage 1 clutch Cusco steering wheel Greedy boost controller exterior: Seibon carbon fiber hood (TS) Password:JDM Dry Carbon 3pc Front Splitter Password:JDM Dry Carbon Fiber Aero Side Skirts Sard LSR carbon fiber wing Enkei RS05rr 18X9.5 +43 wheels with r888r 30/255 tires Muteki SR48 wheel nuts VALENTI Sequence Indicator LED tail light (full smoke) As you can see, I investened a lot of thinking about this project and I'm eager to begin this swap. P.S , I have one question. Can anyone assist and tell me how can I keep all the OEM featurs (such as traction control, ESP, ABS, etc) running? As I said it will be a daily car (with a lot of drifts on the weekends). Thanks! |

Unfortunately, it is very expensive (around 6K USD) and I already purchased the Haltech Elite 2500 (cost me ~2K USD). I'm sure that there is a way to run all the OEM features without spending additional 4K USD. |

I will upload some pics of the car once we will start doing the swap.
I understood that I can switch the wheel speed sensors and the trace control will work, did someone know something about it? |

Haltech is working on Can-bus for our cars already so there is no need to jump to Motec.

Everyone is quick to balk at the $5995 price tag until you price out the alternative: Haltech Elite 2000 $1950 Aftermarket Engine Harness $1400 Jumper/Patch Harness To Adapt To 2JZ $600 Mystery Patch Harness to FRS CAN $?? DIY Cut and Splice to CAN ?? Base Map That Will Actually Run The Car and all the features $400 That's already over $4,000 for something that isn't even proven yet. Not saying it won't be, I'm sure it will. But I know from experience to make it work right and get it all going will not be quick. And of course, the snobby answer , and you get MoTeC and all of it's outstanding features and amazing traction control, etc. My point is what you're paying for is all the hassle and testing being done ahead of time, making the wiring and tuning part of your swap the easiest, which is contrary to any other swap. I think Haltech is a great ECU, I don't hate on it one bit, but MoTeC chose to adopt the FRS and support CAN over 2 years ago when all the other companies, including Haltech said "We currently have no interest in this platform." I can literally pull up emails from back in 2014 when we wanted support and no one else except Ecutek and MoTeC cared about the platform. |

I don't knock on anyone who does not choose Motec, it IS a lot of money. But I just personally can't get over the fact that I may or may not have full A/C working, may or may not have ABS working, may or may not have traction control working among others. Since I am already in the middle of my swap, I needed to budget for the only solution that would satisfy me, which is the only solution that has everything working and it's not that far fetched from others when you add up in real life what the others will cost when you include custom wiring. Of course, there's cars out there that don't care for AC, cruise control, traction, ABS, etc.. They have various other options at hand and I find it great that there are so many options. For me and to date, there was only one finished and complete and thankfully I was able to budget for it in my swap.

I see where you are coming from, The price point will definitely be less than above. We ourselves aren't waiting for haltech we are figuring out a solution along with MRS. We don't deal in vaporware so this inst something that might get done it's something that will get done. |
