Do tell, friend.

He was a troll, but was just so entertaining. You're just bland.

I still want a fun car that's track/autox capable for the indefinite future, so my 86 isn't going anywhere. But I would love to be able to roadtrip it without a second thought, like you said, looking forward to 3 days straight of driving, spend a day on the backroads getting to the track, beat on it all Saturday on track, and take my time driving it home the next day on different backroads would be a great weekend imo. It's all about the tradeoffs you take to make the budget work, Civic Si would likely be a damn good compromise to that end.

Someday I'll need a car that can do that with 4 doors, hopefully by then I'll be able to afford something with a German performance badge on it and power to make up for the weight.

There are a couple options out there that tickle my fancy, but nothing that I say "I NEED that". I mean, the M5 may be the one, but by the time I'm actually willing to buy one, they'll be high mileage and ran through the ringer. For a BMW, I'm not sure I want to deal with that. The Si, the FiST and for some reason, the SS are all good candidates that is realistically like to own, but I need to do a ton of test drives to figure out where I'm at right now with what I want.

Even an SUV would be cool. Have a big soft spot for the FJ, and with a MT and supercharger, that would be one slick, gas guzzling, ugly machine.

In my head, E28 or E34 M5 is the benchmark, maybe that would change if I spent time in one but they look fun, comfortable, and stout as fuck.

Almost every time I look at used M5's there's an E34 with 200k+ miles on it, I think there's a real possibility I end up in a 80's or 90's BMW. But man, BMW's cars built after the turn of the century kinda spook me so I'm with you on that one.

But man we are soooo far off topic, I'll stop now.

If the Type-R roadtrips well it'd be a great 'family car' for what I want, the Civic HB with or without Si trim is probably a great casual enthusiast car. But man, I don't have great opinion of modern Honda ride quality.

Might try to hop over to the Honda dealership when I'm home this weekend, only about a mile from my place. I guess whatever civic they have on the lot would be a good enough baseline.

As to them looking better in black; of course they do. When the whole car is black the uber tacky fake black plastic air vents don't stand out.

Also, LOL at the new Civic Si. Honda just did the BRZ/FRS world a favor
Nah, looks good in other colors too. I already have a buyer for my frs so just waiting for my type r

Very true for Honda products they all seem to have quite a stable sporty ride as opposed to let's say the comparable Toyota. I think they might have rounded off the edges a bit after the mid 90's tho as NVH improved.

A friend of mine just bought a new Odyssey and the van has virtually no body roll on highway ramps I was quite impressed.

The best "reasonably priced" hatchback driver's car currently available is the Mazda3. Far nicer interior than the Civic, doesn't look like a Pontiac on the exterior, best steering and handling in class, and has a smooth and torquey 2.5 liter 4 cylinder.

Agreed.

It breaks my heart that Mazda never made a current MS3.

Supposedly they threw their money at HCCI instead which is supposed to debut next year on the new Mazda 3.

I thought the Mazda3 was easily to best/most fun car in its class but based on recent magazine tests surprisingly the civic is supposed to be better

Maybe it portends how good the TR is going to be.

Thumbs down

I don't think anyone is surprised that the new CTR took the record. Personally I would have been shocked if it didn't.

Still doesn't make it any prettier to look at though
