Looks great in black.
Kind of like the 86, it doesn't look good in pictures. New Civics and 86 look great in person. |

The new Civics in general look horrible in person, at least to me.
As to them looking better in black; of course they do. When the whole car is black the uber tacky fake black plastic air vents don't stand out. Also, LOL at the new Civic Si. Honda just did the BRZ/FRS world a favor

^Switch to a BRZ then? Nicer interior than an FRS.
And there's a difference between driver focused and spartan. An S2000 (and maybe FRS?) interior is spartan. BRZ interior isn't spartan IMO.

I drove a buddy's new civic HB... Very nice car, given the mainstream focus! Great ergonomics (didn't try the radio though). Good throttle response and a decent paddle shifter. Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk |

My family also never had a Honda/Acura with creaks and rattles but not sure about the new stuff post Y2K. The twins have really improved on the wind noise dept compare to older cars with frameless windows. |

I don't think you'll find that in a Honda product, like @Dadhawk mentions above they all ride rather stiff, you might get reduced wind noise and cabin noise, but not much else at the sacrifice of a lot of fun. I've got a 2007 TSX that has no cabin creaks or rattles after 10 years and 100k miles, but wind noise, tire noise, and ride quality are only marginally better than an 86 (and seat comfort is way worse imo, I never hurt after driving my 86, more than 2.5 hours in the TSX and I'll be achy that evening), I've been in much better. Fit and finish should be improved though. At this point I think I'll eventually spring for slapping a bunch of sound deadening into my car and going for a softer suspension setup, but that's a few years away. I don't begrudge the car or the designers, the thing is fucking light and you pay for it in NVH, that's why I bought the car, and I'm happy to think I can improve it once I'm willing to take the weight penalty. |

The other problem is I see the things that my truck has, like remote start, dual CC, comfy ride, quiet, and I'm like "damn, I actually love driving 3700km in 3 days in this thing and look forward to it". Don't get me wrong, I like the FRS, but my wants have changed and I'm not as attached to the platform as I was a few years ago when I bought it. |

I still want a fun car that's track/autox capable for the indefinite future, so my 86 isn't going anywhere. But I would love to be able to roadtrip it without a second thought, like you said, looking forward to 3 days straight of driving, spend a day on the backroads getting to the track, beat on it all Saturday on track, and take my time driving it home the next day on different backroads would be a great weekend imo. It's all about the tradeoffs you take to make the budget work, Civic Si would likely be a damn good compromise to that end. Someday I'll need a car that can do that with 4 doors, hopefully by then I'll be able to afford something with a German performance badge on it and power to make up for the weight.
