Buy the car if you like it. There is always a new thing over the horizon and sadly we don't possess a crystal ball to see what's coming and whether it'd be any good. I bought my car because I wanted a BRZ and that was the start and end of my deliberations.. |

I was thinking about Pontiac, how they became valuable. Certain models though, not all of them. Some of them, most of them, tanked fast. |

buying something with near 0 value, or instantly "under water" on a loan due to everyone fearing of never getting a part again in 5 years due to low production quirky car, is shitty. WRX's are awesome in this respect. Their resale value safeguards the pricey spend on them. You know you can get a lot of your money back in an emergency even if it is two years old and has 22k miles on it.

What's quirky?? Its a simple 2 door coupe, RWD with a simple 2.0ltre engine. Designed and manufactured by established Japanese giants and has sold reasonably well in the States. |

Also the GXP had the larger 6.2l engine and was the only version of the car offering a manual. I don't have numbers but, I'd guess there are more manual twins sold than auto's but, that might just be region specific. To me, the only way that comparison would be feasible would be if the 2018 BRZ had a larger 2.5l engine or factory FI for it's last hoo-rah! Lastly pretty much any G8 non-6 cylinder has better resale than these cars...

The only reason that a G8 GXP is worth anything is the same reason that a manual Chevy SS will hold value well:
They sold almost none of them because nobody was willing to spend their asking price on a manual v8 chevy sedan, and those that were, sometimes had trouble even getting them. Now, they sell for a lot of money because finding a lightly used G8 GXP in decent condition is nearly impossible and the people that own them know it. http://thegarage.jalopnik.com/here-i...-ss-1682534993 A performance pack isn't going to get you a lot of value increase on a BRZ. It just isn't different enough or rare enough, and it is too easy to make something comparable out of aftermarket parts. A factory forced induction option in very limited numbers would likely maintain good value (see mazdaspeed Miata) but that's a moot point since it will never happen anyway. |

It only is the most perfected version of the 86 line, who would want that?

automatic is heavier yes. Just go running and eat fruit and vegetables for two weeks and the Brz/pp will be lighter than the previous limited.
