I think I paid about $220 for my SA helmet a couple years ago, my memory is foggy though. There's discounts at the open house (April 1st - 11:30-2:30), come check out what JRP has in stock and see if anything fits your head and budget.

Fortnine has really good sales on helmets almost all the time.

I've bought many parts and things from there for my '74 XR75 and have had no issues. Excellent customer service. When it's time for me to pick up a Snell rated helmet as the track season approaches, I'll be picking one up from them most likely.

Yeah, I got lots coming up in the summer and didn't think I'd need a helmet right away.

Any suggestions other then jrp for a nice helmet ? Ill most likely be going to the open house at jrp, I just want a few options.

I would suggest starting with a brand - HJC is a good starter brand and you can find their Canadian distributors on this website - call in and ask if they stock Snell M rated or S rated helmets and go from there.

https://www.partscanada.com/locator

Riders Choice in Mississauga used to have M and S rated helmets but I am not sure if they do that anymore. They are at Dixie and Queensway in Mississauga.

Hope that helps.

Thanks, signed up for the school at DDT and also picked up an HJC helmet at jrp while I was there. I'm so excited

SPDA has three days on the DDT this summer, JRP has 5 on the GP track. There's a ton of other groups as well.

If you've never been on a track, don't make your first day the GP track. Hit up TMP, Shannonville or the DDT first.

I highly suggest the SPDA ATTS days - well oiled, friendly folks and lots of guys to aid and assist newbies.

I also agree with Will - do NOT go to the GP track until you are truly ready after smaller tracks. I would suggest the following tracks to learn on in order of my preference for rookies:

1- DDT
2- TMP
3- Shannonville (SMP)

The reason why Shannonville is so low on the list is that the surface has seen better days and they patched it with materials that can make the course night and day in different temperatures. Plus the turtles / curbs at SMP are NOT your friends! They WILL send you car airborne!

TMP has by far the most lapping days available since they run their own private open lapping but ... *sigh* ... it's a bit of a shit show depending on who shows up. I was there today and wound up on the track for just one session because I wasn't comfortable with some of the yahoos (read: kids with exponentially more money than skill or brains) out there. I was just trying to bed my brakes in.

I highly suggest attending a track school of some sort. Or be like me and attend almost all of them lol... (I'm just a lunatic).

Cheers.

I've done a couple sessions at TMP, but I'm just aiming to do the GP Track maybe by the end of the summer. But I thought I'd start by doing some open lapping at the DDT thats why I asked because I've seen the schools for DDT but I was just curious if there is just lapping at the DDT.

Thanks for the help both of you!

More details to come, but they'll be very similar to last year.

So who else is attending the OTA DDT school here?

I will be there for 7 out of the 8 events this year.

Gotta make that roll bar pay back itself!
