TB's GT86
My name is Terrin, I'm 22 years old and from Saskatchewan Canada. Our car scene up here isn't the best in the world, the shows can't hold their own against a place like Chicago, SoCal, Japan but there are some good quality builds. These builds were what got me into cars, I started to really find a passion of cars in high school and that passion has now lead me to getting my Journeyman ticket being a Automotive Service Tech.
I've been on FT86Club for a while now, however have never gotten around to making a build thread. I bought my car in the spring of 2014, so I'm 3 years behind so I will be dumping lots off the bat. I apologize in advance if it’s too much to start. I figured now would be a better time than ever to finally get around to making a thread, so here it goes! Starting with right now, this is my car as it sits today! My build list: Exterior: Wrapped with 3M 1080 Intense Blue Beatsonic Shark Fin Antenna Helix Clear Side Markers CS Style Side Skirts CS Style Rear Spats STI Style Front Lip Valenti Red Lens Taillights Valenti Red Lens Reverse Bar Spyder Fog Lights Toyota Emblems SARD Rear Spoiler BRZ Fender Garnishes SuperTek Hood Dampeners Suspension and Wheels: BC Extreme Low Coilovers BC Sway Bar End Links 18x9.5 +40 Advan GT’s 255/35/R18 BFGoodrich ContiPro Contact Muteki SR48 Lug Nuts Interior: (All Genuine “JDM” Toyota) Red Steering Wheel Black Side Vent Rings Black Door Handles Black Door Pulls Red Door Pull Grips Black Steering Wheel Trim Black Shifter Surround Black TCS Buttons Black Shift Knob Black Knee Bolsters Black Radio Surround Black Passenger Airbag Cover Performance: K&N Drop-In Filter Ultimate Racing 3” Cat Back Modellista Engine Cover I bought my car in May of 2014. I bought a 2014 Monogram Edition Scion FR-S. As far as I know it’s the only Monogram edition in Saskatchewan, but I really don't think that's an important stat. I’m a design oriented person; I love the aesthetic aspect of the car scene. Everybody loves going fast and blowing the doors off of other people but that is not what I wanted with this car. That’s why my build list is much more aesthetic and minimalistic rather than high HP. This build thread will get much less “formal” after these original posts, starting 3 years late makes me want to tell the story of how my car got to where it is now and then continue to show where it goes from here! |

The Beginning: I bought my car in May of 2014. I wanted the front bumper of the FRS and the interior of the BRZ, so when I found the Monogram edition in a dealership nearby I made a call and found it was in the colour I wanted too. I drove down and bought the car then, and immediately had to put 300km on it to drive it home. It might not sound like a bunch, but this was also the first new car I had bought so seeing it go from double digits to triple digits was an odd feeling. I immediately wanted to start doing some mods. The first thing I did, embarrassingly, was plasti-dip my wheels black. I ordered coilovers, fog lights, antenna, hood dampeners, side markers, air filter and a roof spoiler in June of 2014. The roof spoiler never ended up getting installed however. I also ordered the side skirts and front lip a couple weeks after. I installed all of my new mods and was satisfied for the rest of the summer!
The first look: First time having it home, as well as the Cobalt SS I had before the FR-S: First mod: plasti dip wheels and VHT Nightshade on the tails: A few pictures from a shoot with some friends, Max's Focus ST and my friend Dylan who bought my Cobalt: Coilovers, lip kit, side markers and antenna installed!: Black interior also shows up: Last edited by TB; 03-26-2017 at 07:42 PM. The next summer came more mods. First off I got my new license plate, GT86. I also picked up a set of Valenti tail lights and a reverse light, as well as all Toyota badges. I bought my first set of wheels, a set that I wanted for a long time. I purchased a set of Desmond Regamasters in 17x8 +35 in the rare 5x100 pattern. The set I bought had 3 white wheels and one gold, I originally had a plan to get all of them refinished into gold but that never ended up happening. I used the stock tires with the Regamasters, and I got a nice amount of stretch and a fitment that I was a big fan of. I purchased a red Toyota steering wheel as well and finally got some pictures of the interior.
New plate!: Installed the Valenti's: Steering wheel and interior: Regamasters!: Test fitting: Daily driver pictures: Last edited by TB; 03-26-2017 at 10:45 PM. Reason: Thread Expansion |

The winter of 2015-2016 was when I decided to make some more large changes. First thing that needed to change was the colour. I decided on intense blue from 3M and wrapped the car in my garage over the course of a week, going to school during the day and then coming home and doing an hour or two each night. I also knew I needed new wheels and I wanted to make the change from 17’s to 18’s. First off I decided to get my Regamasters refinished in order to bring in more for my next set. Once they were refinished I picked up a set of Work XD9’s, 18x10+38. Like the roof spoiler though, these wheels never were mounted onto the car. A deal on a brand new set of Advan GT’s came up and I couldn’t pass them up. So the XD9’s were sold and the BFG’s were purchased. I also bought a LegSport duck tail spoiler and ran with this setup for the majority of the summer. I purchased a SARD spoiler late in the summer and removed the LegSport, rewrapped the trunk and called it good for the summer.
Got the Regamasters refinished: XD9's and the wrap arrived: The wrapping process, all done by myself and buddies in my garage: Test fitting the GT's: First time pulling it into the sun: Reveal photoshoot with @Daniellepascalphotography: Photoshoot with @wscheibz on Instagram: And then out with the LegSport and in with the SARD: Last edited by TB; 03-26-2017 at 10:59 PM. |

That brings us up to right now. As my car sits now is in the garage, up on 4 jack stands with the Advan’s now in southern California. I purchased VooDoo rear LCA’s, Project Kics R40 lug nuts, new wheels, lip kit, and hopefully a new hood in the coming days as well. These will be installed before the car hits the road and then many more pictures will be updated on here as well. My fiancée is an aspiring photographer so getting photos taken of my car is never tough! I hope everyone enjoys my build thread, I’m excited to see where it goes from here and hopefully I can keep his thread updated when everything gets in this spring!

Looks amazing and I love how you've done the mods yourself. I have neither the skills, tools, nor the space lol
