My savings haven't depleted, I work a steady job with good pay (only working 4 days/week) while still attending university, have a social life and gf and still earning savings without the help of my parents anymore. I came on here 3 years ago to ask if I was going to get "qualified", and almost all replies were about "you should not do it". Thanks for the advice LOL

Because OP decided to revive it and say everybody gave him bad advice since he pulled it off. Still has 3 years to pay for it though and a simple layoff could change his situation drastically. He will have new wheels though.

weekly allowances lol.

save yourself about 16k and buy a 2016 which is salvage and send it to a body shop and have it rebuilt.

bought my 2016 frs with 1300km on it here in toronto, Ontario for 9k with tax. spent 1300 on parts and 200 for safeties (i work in collision so i get a discount for in house costs and labour). all in all i had a brand new frs for 12k out the door after tax. saved over 16k + tax, dealer fees, all the other bs. Dont pay 30k for a frs. Just buy salvage (not rebuilt yet) have it fixed properly and its the same thing. No offense but it would be dumb to buy an frs for that amount. If you really want to pya 400-600 a month in payments might as well get something higher end like an audi or something.

And having no credit doesnt help. Shouldve gotten a credit card the day you turned 18 and started building it up.

So lemme see if I've got a handle on this thread...

Facts:
- Dude is facing 3 more years of paying interest on a depreciating asset he is currently underwater on
- Dude is looking to put himself even further in the hole by blowing cash on some wheels he doesn't actually need

Logical Conclusion:
- you all suck

You forgot to mention he has a girlfriend now. That seemed relevant somehow.

And you still have a rebuilt title that is worth leaps and bounds less than buying an accident free one.

And because paying 400-600 a month to have your cheap sports car paid off faster is the exact same as having that 400-600 payment a month on a car that costs twice as much, so you're paying interest for twice as long. Makes sense. I see why you work in an auto body shop and not in finance.

And? It's a car Im taking to the track and will eventually do mods to that will devalue the car anyways. Buying salvage is fine if you have it fixed properly. I don't see the point in paying double for a car you'll keep for 5 years and will be worth basically the same amount as a salvage anyways.

Read this whole thread and I think the OP made the wrong choice, if you have 33k just buy the car with cash. Could have been paying himself the car payments with interest instead of giving to the dealer, buy any expenses such as food, gum, whatever on a credit card and you will have a credit score. At least the OP is happy.
