Keep on mind that the stoichiometric ratio for gasoline (14.7:1) is different than that of E85 (9.8:1) remember this when you are watching your wideband, you will be blending the two so a safe AFR ratio would probably be in the 11's to avoid detonation.

P.S. when I run full E85 in the Evo I have it set to 7.4:1 AFR after peak torque to give you an idea.

Yes you wanna aim for 11 for AFR in a booste car, n/a cars run 13 at wot but for this at aim for 12.0 or slightly lower, anyways don't top your tank with 93 then add 1.5 that's over filling, you want to add 1.5 then top off with full tank of 93 this way you don't over fill

Making fuel out of corn... just not a fan. It's neat to see people experimenting with other fuels though. I wonder what a tank of toluene and some ecu tuning would yield.

You do know E85 makes greater HP/TQ then any gas you can buy from any station right?

My dislike of E85 has nothing to do with the power it makes. Think political, economical and environment. Not a fan of corn.

I could care less if it was made from the tears of gingers, its a great fuel type and its super cheap, around a dollar a gallon (north NJ.)

Dynapacks read on the high side because the car doesn't have the wheels on. Also the ramp rate effects the power numbers but as long as you are looking at the delta it really doesn't matter what the baseline numbers are.

Use the corn for alcohol, then use what's left to make corn flakes. Ain't nothin' wrong with that. But a lot of ethanol kickbacks expire this year. May be a bit harder to find that stuff.

Well at least you have the right attitude.

All joking and sarcasm aside, even though it's cheap at the pump it's worth doing a little research on the "scam" that is corn ethanol.

Scam? If the government subsidizes it so it's cheaper for me to buy, that's a good buy in my book. I mean, as young people we aren't really getting like, Social Security benefits and stuff, and most of us probably aren't getting lots of benefits from earmarks or corruption, so why not take advantage of this little subsidy. It's going to be there whether or not people buy E85, and if they decide to pull the subsidy and it's not cost effective anymore, just stop running it. The farmer unions have the say on it, it's not like you can do anything about it.

Like I said, you need to do your own research and after such your opinions may mirror or differ from mine but please, dig deeper.

If you have 93 already then there would be no point.

I'll add I'm not sure why their base numbers are so high, the video they posted shows the TCF set to 1.0 which I know is a multiplier on the Dynapack. Maybe the pulls were being done in the wrong gear.
That's closer to what I would expect, especially since it's compared to 91 octane. But it's still more than I would expect with full strength E85. :-/

I know you mean the true AFR but that's going to confuse people. The wideband values, which are derived from the Lambda scale, are almost exactly the same range, aren't they?

The 51 cent a gallon blender credit expired in December, BTW. You and I have a differing opinion on why it's acceptable to subsidize. I prefer the reasoning that it encourages energy independence even if it does have a high price.

And why you no mention this thread to me Cereal?

I think you'll find the truth is somewhere in between. I keep up on this stuff as much as I can and I've found Corn ethanol to be better than most of the alternatives. It's certainly not without it's costs but the most popular counters to Corn Ethanol use tend to be the most worthless.
