E85
So dg-spec just posted in there Facebook. With a muffler delete and 1.5 gallons of e85 they were able to make 190 to the wheels. On a dyapack.From what I know the car still has the stock injectors and stock ecu. I have e85 on the corner. Hmm....

Fill her up with some, their is one station 10 miles from me and im willing to go their next fully up if the car can handle it stock.

I talked to them. They only added 1.5 gallons to help boost octane. They didn't do a full tank.

It would be amazing if the stock fuel system in this car is able to supply the amount of fuel it would take to run completely on E85.
To give you an idea, on my Evo I had to swap the fuel pump from 190lph to 300lph, and the injectors from 550cc to 1250cc, it takes roughly 30% more E85 to get the same energy as it does from pump gas. I know that this is a high pressure fuel system with direct injection, I just don't know if the port injectors will flow enough for a propr idle, and high load, RPM operation. On a side note if you run E85 your gas mileage will suck, I usually get between 20-25 mpg with pump in the Evo, I'm happy if I get 15mpg with E85, ofcourse my driving habits change quite a bit with alcohol in the tank:happyanim: G |

If they used it to make a complete fill up then that means bout 12-15 % e85, the proper wy to do this would be to put in 1.5 gallons of e85 and then top the tank with 93 or 91 if that's all u have

I'd like to see what their baseline was before the muffler delete and e85, if this proved to make 30-40 hp this is te best free mod, as a matter of fact it is less than free it saves money lol

What would be the long term effects of doing this? My local gas station already sells e85 so i wouldnt even have to go out of my way to do it

get the mix wrong and you run the risk of running too lean, the best option would be to use a wideband to monitor the changes as you change the fuel mixture, currently the car runs 10.5-11.5 at WOT in the upper range 12.5 would be nice in an N/A high compression engine for reliability, food for thought my tc was pulling 13.7 afrs bone stock, keeping this car below 12.5 will keep detonation away which is already less of a risk when running some e85 |
The numbers are all about the before and after. They made 180whp bone stock so they saw about a 10whp increase over stock. When you look at whp % gained it's about the same increase nameless got with their axleback. The e85 was to boost the octane a little since they seem to be in CA where they have 91 at the pump. If you have 93 already then there would be no point.
I'll add I'm not sure why their base numbers are so high, the video they posted shows the TCF set to 1.0 which I know is a multiplier on the Dynapack. Maybe the pulls were being done in the wrong gear. |

I use 93oct to full up my car but next time im going to add 1.5 of E85 to the tank after i top her off

I bet their car was running really lean. The leaner the car the more power it can make. If the the Air:Fuel ratio goes below 12:1, it will start to detonate. Detonation kills engines.
It says only use E10 on the gas cap for a reason. Don't run E85 (at all) until there is proper tuning available for the ECU. |
