Loud clank when taking off in first
This just happened to me. 24k miles.
I was at a red light. Light turns green, and when I began to let out on the clutch I heard a loud clank. I thought maybe it wasn't in first good enough, so I pushed the clutch back in and pushed the stick forward -- but it was in first as much as a car can be. |

What would you like to know? It's bone stock. I guess I could have added that.
The sound came from the front, possibly around the clutch area. It was a metal-on-metal sound, almost like a high pitched grind, but not really. Hard to describe. Other than that...? |

Has it happened again since then?
Maybe you just hit something as you started to move :| |

Unless it is repeated then there are latterly 10,000 things it could be based on the info at hand. If the car still runs and moves I wouldn't sweat it unless it happens again.

Did the car stick in place before the clank? (Engine bogs under load but it doesn't move?)
If so, while it was stuck, did it squat at all, or did the engine just bog?

I just thought maybe it was something others had experienced and could chime in. I guess not. |

Every M/T owner has experienced a pop out of gear. Just didn't have it engaged enough. It happens.
