I like that you have specific color goals.

For me it's a Montego Green RX7.

I'm not too keen on on RX-7's (or Mazda tbh), but I actually like the FD in that purple it was offered in. But I think it was also offered in a pearl white??? I'll almost always like a car in pearl white.

What colors were offered for the Spirit R (since I think it was a limited edition model)?

One of the greatest limited editions ever.

Innocent Blue Mica
Pure White
Brilliant Black
Vintage Red
Titanium Grey Metallic (unique to the Spirit R)

I'm assuming pure white isn't pearlized, and titanium grey is dark like charcoal, so I'd take the titanium.

Edit: Googled it. Dark enough gray that I'd like it

Like I said, I my knowledge on RX-7's is very much, so I'm assuming that's the right color that google showed.

hmmm, after seeing that, I'm not liking it as much (I prefer my gray's on the darker side). I googled the other colors you listed, and I'd take this over the titanium.

As you can probably tell by now, I'm more partial towards pearl whites and midtone blues with some depth.

this is a good exercise. but when you are first starting out also try this technique to minimize the stalling (which can be the most stressful/frustrating part of learning manual). From a stop, and with clutch in, rev up to 2000rpm and hold it there. Now slowly release the clutch pedal in a smooth and linear fashion. If you did the exercise above enough times, you will be able to release the clutch enough to be close to the grab point already, but smoothly and gently release as you get closer. The high revs will keep you from stalling, but this is a little too high for normal driving. But good to practice the clutch release part. If you release too fast you will take off at a good pace so do this somewhere safe at first. With practice you will be able to do this at 1800rpm, and then 1500rpm. And eventually you're back at the original exercise where you don't or barely give it any gas at all and just release the clutch to get the car moving.

Practice makes perfect, but don't overdo it. I taught a coworker how to drive stick in the work parking lot and I just spent maybe 15 min showing him what to do. Then I got out of the car, stood in the shade somewhere and let him have at it for another 15 min. Then call it quits... you don't want to get fatigued and frustrated too much just do it in short sessions and then stop. Come back to it mentally relaxed and refreshed and try again later. It will eventually become second nature.

Congrats on the new car!

Too late used Automotive 3M again, it's slightly thicker.

Eh, if it falls off again, you'll know what to use at that point.

Awesome advice. Thanks man. Today I'm going spend a bit driving through some quieter neighborhoods and doing what you guys said.

That idea about doing it in short bursts is really helpful too.

Dont forget you cant stop on a good note too. Say you drive 5 or 10 blocks without stalling. Take it home to park it so the last thing you did was correct indtead of waiting to get a little fruatrated and ending when doing it wrong.
