IOW, the same old thing as every other "special addition". Bling for money, nothing meaningful. If this is true, kudos to the marketing dudes. I can't think of any other car that has had more speshul editions in a five year life span than this thing.

I like it visually. That stripe intrigues me. I never even considered one on my car.

Even more than you would think if you count all the European, Aussie and JDM special editions. Shit loads of them.

Know why they called it the 860?

Because when you see it you do an 860 and walk away.

That stripe does not work for me. But otherwise, none of this is a surprise.

I think that the 10 series and the 1.0 are the best edition they made so far.......

Same spec as the standard model GT86 in Britain.

Toyota sold a 'Blanco' edition here, the applied vinyl stripes were poor quality

Eh, I'm happy that I didn't wait for this "special edition" to buy my 86.

IIRC it might have been a couple of decades since Toyota offered any special edition with more power. They do it on the Lexus side, which I have absolutely ZERO interest I'm. Lexus stands for exactly what I hate about modern automobiles, in fact modern society even.

Personally I'd love to see the old US automobile manufactures approach (Never EVER, EVER happen) where you could almost buy any combination of body/ power plants.

86 with roll up windows, no radio, back up camera, or back seat with the Avalon's V6 or the Tundra's V8.

Ehhhh yup this is like the monogram but less color options. I wanted a manual asphault monogram so bad... mostly because it was available in grey and had those shnazzy jdm tite yo headlights.

But headlights are all the same in every region from 17 and up, so... this thing has zero appeal, at least to me.

I agree 10 series was best, maybe rs1. I saw an rs2 yesterday on 15 fwy. Man i love jdm tite yo headlights...

*just remembered the monogram had leather seats. Yech... huge downside of that car imo. I suppose trading seats with somebody would be easy but... yech.

eh, the comparison between the 86 and Toyota's sports car offerings during the 90s is poor because they used to have at least 2 or 3 different engine choices in every model. the frs definitely just lacks variants here. toyota was still doing the cosmetic only special editions during the 80s and 90s and as far as I know Lexus has never offered special editions with more power, just different suspension, wheels, body kit..but unlike the twins each lexus model does come with a healthy variety of engine/suspension choices.

btw whats wrong with having power and comfort? i love the twins but i definitely see the appeal and wouldn't mind owning any of those types of models myself

..as far as the 860, I wouldn't mind it. It is just like the previous RS models, it really mainly gives 86 fans the chance to get the better interior here in the states which was only available through the brz. watching the dyno sheet is pretty fun
