For the FR-S, do we use the same one as the BR-Z or do we use the F-103. On their website, it states that all Scion used F-103 as well as Toyota.

You'd have to get one with a hose that is small enough for the dipstick tube. Might take a while to drain the sump. Otherwise, I've seen people bring their filled pump in to recycle. Seems like they might work well.
My only issue with them is that the ones I've seen cost between $125 and $250. Maybe I'm not finding the cheap ones. |

Does the magnet really have an effect? It almost seems like a "snakeoil" product.

How much force is needed to switch the oil valve? I would be worried it might release all the oil when i'm driving.

Call me crazy, but what can a magnet pick up? aren't engines made out of aluminum, as well as most of the innards that aren't bolts? those aren't magnetic. :P

However, I think that's overkill. My WRX that I race in SCCA RallyCross has a Fumoto without the extra clamp and it has never opened on it's own. Quote:
Probably an exaggerated pic, but: ![]() If you've ever seen "Ferro Fluid" you've seen metal bits in an oil suspension. Except because the metal content is much lower in engine, the bits stay against the filter wall. Quote:
Ultimately the filter magnet is one of those things that may have a long-term effect. Like getting 99.9% filtration filters instead of 95%. Does it truly matter? No one really knows because no one's going to pay for a long-term study to be sure. But it should matter, and it brings peace of mind. I'll try to remember to rent an exhaust pipe cutter next time I change my oil and I'll cut the filter open and take pictures to see if it gathered anything. |

I had a thought and fired off a quick question to Blackstone Labs to see if they've seen lower metal counts when a filter magnet is used. If I get a reply I'll post it.

Does anyone know the correct Power Enterprise MAG II oil filter to use? Those come with magnets inside them already and are a really good filter. I use them on my MR-S and would like to continue to use them in my FR-S. I'm just having a difficult time finding out the proper one to buy. So far, based on some other cross-references, it looks like the OFII-04A is the correct one. But I am not certain.
Edit: It could be either of these: OFII-04A 65x80 (width x height in mm) OFII-02A 65x70 (width x height in mm) Both are: M20×1.5 The O2A allegedly replaces Subaru part number: 15208-A0130. That's not exactly the same as 15208-AA130. But I'm just trying to figure out the proper sizing. I suppose I'll just measure once I have the car and order the one that is the closest height then. The both should fit though.

Hey whatsup, when I look at the Fumoto valve, I'm trying to figure out where the oil comes out; is it on the side of the open valve (90 degree angle to pan) or does it flow out the straight opposite ende of the opening that goes into the pan?
