Finch's Whiteout FR-S - Hachi V.2

Hey everyone. I'm Finch and picked up my Whiteout AT FR-S from Dublin Toyota on 5/31/12. I had followed this car for years as a concept like many of you and seriously began my search around late March. I tried Hayward Toyota first and they were not going to receive what I wanted and generally weren't very helpful. Maybe they didn't see me as a serious buyer. But Dublin ended up being my second stop and had exactly what I wanted. They took my info and 2 months later I was able to sell my previous "dream car," a 2005 WRB STi and get my FR-S. I commute from Stockton to Oakland pretty much everyday so the AT and something that didn't have 150k+ on the odometer was really in order. Not to mention better than 20 MPG on the highway is a big plus. I don't plan on doing much to the car anytime soon beyond aesthetics basically and maybe a cutback. I want to enjoy and learn in the car in stock form (never AutoX, tracked, or drifted) and see how I want to go from there.

I learned to work on cars on my cousins 91 MR2 and have always loved Toyotas for that reason. I have a 86 shell that I drove for 2 weeks about 6 years ago before it crapped out on me and I started a ST swap. It never got going really and will be traded for a AW11 pretty soon so I can finally get my 20V on the road. But since I got my Corolla I have spent more time on Club4ag reading tech info and researching parts that I have doing anything else, and I barely drove the car. I always loved the community and think it's the best out there when it comes to cars and always wanted to be part of it. The FR-S has given me that chance. It is my opportunity to experience what the 86 was like those early years and why it has such a following. I can't wait to meet new friends and enjoy watching the evolution of the FR-S scene as it grows. :happy0180:

Mods:
-Automation Lighting LED lights: dome, trunk, license plate, reverse, and all four turn signals
- Grimmspeed front plate relocater
- Tint: 20% rear, 50% front (lessened front after the fix it ticket)
- Grimmspeed Ltd Ed oil cap #17/140

Waiting for install:
- OEM mudguards
- Bluebat redout tail light overlays
- Meng Motorsports 8k HID kit
- 17x8 +38 Super Advan Ver2 (needs repair/powdercoat)
- 86 ZN6 custom center consol plaque #11/86(on order)
- Grimmspeed Ltd Ed battery tie down #17 (on order)

Nice! Doo eet! You'll have an easy time swapping the 20v into the AW11; the only hurdle is routing the cooling system hoses. Good luck, and congats on the FR-S!

I'll leave this up here for you and John:

Thanks. I should have it sometime this summer. Need garage space first. Haha. And I got tint yesterday on the FR-S, so more sweet pics will be up later along with nostalgia pics of my STi.

Yeah, that was a big reason I decided to trade the 86 for the MR2, just an easier swap. Especially since I was coming from an SR-5. Hopefully mine will turn out as nice looking as yours man. That thing is sweet.

So I got the tint done a week ago. 3 days after I was on my way to LA and got hit with a ticket for it. Anyway, here are some pics. 20% rear/back cutout, 35% front.

Also installed interior LEDs from Automation Lighting with the big map light, trunk light, and license plate lights. I need to get better pics of those as they aren't coming out to well right now. Gonna order the reverse lights as well now that I see the difference in how nice the white is vs. yellow.

My Grimmspeed front plate relocator is in as well as my plates, but I may or may not hold off install until my custom plates come in. Gonna see how long it takes.

Nice, what dealer are you getting yours from? And make sure to sign up for the Norcal owners registry when you get it. I guess there is one other FR-S in Stockton (also a whiteout) but they haven't been active on the boards beyond that one post.

I think it was me. I was on my way to Kaiser around 1:30 and went El Doroado to Swain. I am stock except for the tin and my windows were down too more than likely.

So I went camping with some friends for someone's birthday and felt like sharing what I could manage to fit into the car, which was more then they packed in the Buick. And I was only one click away from regular seating position. Lol. Beyond this I'll wait until I get all my new lights in (reverse LED, chrome turn signals and Osram Nightbreakers) before I do another update. Looking forward to the now SF Scion sponsored Drive and Breakfast this Saturday for sure. See you all there.

3 Camping chairs, 2 Sleeping bags, 1 large beach umbrella, 1 big cooler, 2 backpacks, 1 bag, a lantern, 2 inflatable floating chairs, a 4 person tent, a pillow, 4 bottles of margarita (forgot a pic of two on the floor tucked under the front seats), a pillow sized stuffed frog, a case of water, and a portable propane grill.

This is what it looks like out of the car (minus the water and margaritas that got drank :happy0180: )
