17x9 gram light 57xtreme rims
So i just purchased a set of 17x9 gram light 57xtreme rims and was wondering which tire would be the best for it? I live in south florida and its my DD so I need something thats decent on wet roads. Any suggestions would be great. Also if anyone from around ft lauderdale fl knows of a good place to have them mounted I would appreciate it. I am worried a lot of places might scratch them. I used to get my tires from places like tire kingdom, tires plus etc etc. I dont trust them with my expensive arse rims though. They usually hire kids who dont really care and I dont want them screwing up my rims.
Thank in advance, |

Yes, you'll most likely rub you might want to get some camber bolts to add some camber up front.
Here is a thread to help you also. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42746 |

I run the 57Xtreme 18x8.5 and have 235/40s. The wheels actually have a bit of a lip on them so the tire doesn't fit completely flush with the edge of the wheel. I would probably need to go up to a 245. Since you are running a 9 inch wheel, a 245 would work, but a 255 would most likely look the best. You would definitely need to change out for coilovers in the front though so you don't rub.
As for tires that do well in the rain, I run MPSS here in the Pacific Northwest where it is constantly raining. MPSS have a high resistance to hydroplane and have always given me complete confidence, wet or dry.

The MPSS have a 30k mile warranty. I think they are a terrific balance between tread wear and grip.

Same size and offset as my 949 Racing Wheels. On stock suspension you should be fine,,, I was. I lowered with RCE Yellow springs and the front was really tight to the spring so I added a 5MM spacer. No problems. I have 245/40/17 on my 17x9 rims as well. I put BFG's on and they're decent enough but really loud. I wont get another set. I normally look at Discount Tire, Tire Rack and EBAY for best prices. Last two sets were both from EBAY. My experience is most decent tire shops can mount and balance without scratching rims. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...light=gtpvette
