[SOLVED] Grinding / Squeaking noise FL Brakes
Hey All,
For some background info, my car is a stock 2013 FRS with 34k miles. These noises started after I took the car in for an alignment. I recently noticed a slight squeaking noise coming from the front left of my car that only happens while driving. The speed increases along with the speed of the vehicle, however it goes away completely under any braking. In addition, when braking lightly at low speeds there is grinding coming from the same wheel. The grinding is not constant, it happens at one spot with every rotation of the wheel. Both noises disappear under normal and heavy braking. I have taken the caliper, pads, and rotor off and inspected them, and cannot find any point of contact other than where the pads meet the rotor and there's nothing wrong there. I also inspected the shield for the rotor to see if maybe it was making contact with the rotor but there is nothing there either. Any help is appreciated, I'm trying to avoid taking it to Toyota since I won't be able to afford the diagnostic for at least a few weeks. Update: After waiting what seems like an eternity, I received my new wheel bearing yesterday and replaced it. Both noises are gone and there is no more grinding on braking. Update: Possibly the wheel bearing. I'll be replacing it this week as soon as the one I ordered comes in.

I doubt it's a bad wheel bearing, if it only makes the noise at a certain point in the wheel rotation.
It might be a warped rotor .... ![]() humfrz |

Do you hear anything? You should hear absolutely nothing. It's more involved listening for it on the rear wheels because you have to remove the half shafts.

Hey that means my diagnostic skills are still somewhat in tact! Woohoo! Plus I ordered the right part on the first try. Move over ASE Certified master techs.... Now all I have to do is wait for the stupid thing to get here. |

At least don't drive it anywhere, or so fast that you can't afford to lose a wheel. Congrats, man!

I'm only going about 9-10 miles a day round trip to and from work. Stuck in 10-30mph traffic the whole time. I won't be doing any freeway driving. Gonna try to keep it under the speed limit until that hub assembly comes in.
