My hood definitely jiggles on the highway, makes me nervous when I watch it.

One time while I was "going fast" my hood tried to open up but was stopped by the catch. Must have not been closed properly, (I changed oil the day before). But still makes me scared to go over 70 sometimes.

if 70-80 mph doesn't cost problem, then how much faster I need to drive and force the problem out?

Tested at 135mph at Poconos race track - hood movement looked entertaining but it holds

Same happened to me when I opened her up to 142mph one day early on in ownership. Oops I wasn't on a race track.

Just twist/adjust those little round rubber stops (one under each front corner of hood, on radiator core support) and you'll be good to go. They are each threaded, turn counter clockwise a little to raise each.
Edit 2-6-17...The above task should take less than 5 minutes of your time, two minutes for me.

The hood is made of aluminum, so very flexible, needs to have it's front corners fitting very tight to stops on core support, so it does not flutter at high speeds.

My hood is now just slightly above fenders, both sides, close enough for me.

If that does not satisfy, then adjust hood latch (radiator support area) down a little...just three bolts to loosen, move latch down, then retighten.

These are all basic minor adjustments for a body shop to align things...but any of us can easily do at home.

I'm thinking he is still under warranty. He should bring it in - it sounds like a few people on the forum have had this problem. It should be fixed. To my thinking, this is NOT normal - even though some people have experienced it. I'm thinking back over all the cars I've had over the years, and I've never had a hood move up and down like he's experiencing. At the very least, bring it into the dealer, and have them say "it's normal - don't worry". I can't believe they would say that.....Oh wait, they are trained to say that....

I agree. I've read about this but my hood is rock solid up through 100 MPH.*

That was the first thing that I noticed when I started really driving the brand new car. I didn't even know there were crickets under the hood at that time.
I solved my problem by wrapping a couple of turns of gorilla tape on the latch ( the part that is attached to the hood). I could not stand the fluttering of the hood at highway speeds. Now when I pop the hood, I do not hear the characteristic latch release because it is very soft. When closing, I just gently settled the hood down and press the hood at the latch contact point with the palm of my hand. It's surprising how well the tape has held up so far.

Best,
Pat

It isn't a "problem". Those that think it doesn't move just aren't seeing it. It is not a fixed part of the structure of the car and is going to move.

nothing to worry about until your hood flies into your windshield when you are going 120mph

Dont have the "issue" on my FRs but it does it on my MR2 just as described. No issues many years later like everyone has said. If my windshield gets blasted by it I'll let you know
