I personally would rather pay in $100-200 than get back $5000. I dislike the thought of someone holding my money all year and then giving it to me at the end. I also don't have several children like some people I know that seem to get back more in taxes than I pay in but they don't have a job?

Ugh... My blood pressure is going up again.

Getting less than $100 back, got as close to $0 as I could without going over on withholdings. Me ish happy.

That'll pay for a day of autocross and lunch/dinner.

My hypothetical (in a strange reality in which I saved the money for my car or had a tax refund that I considered disposable income) tax refund would be spent on...

A better down payment for when I actually ever get my car, window tint, clear bra or ceramic coat, some "grippier" tires, a helmet, ticket reservation for a local track day in HPDE, and a couple of full tanks so that my wife and I can take a trip somewhere not local. A handful of cash to spend while I'm out of town would be nice too, the wife does like the amenities of a nice hotel rather than sleeping in a car and hoping to not get towed in the middle of the night.

Unfortunatly waiting until summer for a Turbo kit because I'm using all the Tax money for a roadtrip From California to New York City cutting across the southern half of the States. Plus I don't want to deal with a vacuum leak or blown motor or tuning issues while driving over 4,000 Miles.
But taking a small chunk an adding new tires, brake pads, and a clear wrap for my hood to protect from tumblewheats and rock chips. heh heh

I'm going to pay off my car, around the same time as my taxes come in. I'm paying it a few years early.

Might do wheels + tires.

$20 short of some Revo taillights, so I'm now conflicted in between actually getting it or using it for a header... Problem is, if I'm going for the header, I'm gonna wait til I have enough for a Nameless axleback.... and then comes labor

That's good. You'll have a good feeling once it is paid off. Wheels and tires will come for me a few years down the line. Heh.

Haven't looked much into aftermarket taillights. Somewhere down the line I'll get some possibly. However, I kinda like the OEM ones at the moment..

Understand but some of us don't have the option. My state exempts military wages from state taxes but DFAS automatically withholds the normal state tax rate out anyway....so I don't have a choice but give them the interest free loan.

So, yeah, I pick up my 2017 BRZ Limited in two weeks and a chunk of that state money is buying JL Audio for it.

Ah, that kind of sucks. I have a habit of seeing things "my way" sometimes and it seems like the blinders are on. I have met too many people that like to play the victim and feel they are entitled to everything. Sorry if my comments seemed a bit jaded I only know what BS people try to feed me unless I research it myself.

My tax lady even tries to tell me it would do better for me during tax season if I took more out of my check. I don't get the mentality of giving them my money to hold onto till a certain time when I can do what I want with it now. Like I said the most I pay in (if I do) is $200, I can easily make that happen. A possible $1500-2000 loss throughout the year means substantially less money to use on things I feel are important now. This means roughly $150 I can invest (and make interest on) in the meantime or even use it so that I pay less interest in the long term on a mortgage or car loan.

Why did we stop talking about buying things for our car?
